Then & Now
John: Something tells me that David's never been to a funeral, so I'm curious where he's developed his impression of what a funeral would be like.
If Bill Malloy was the sophisticated man I think he's been portrayed as, I wouldn't expect his favorite song to be "What do you do with a drunken sailor."
David proclaims his love for Vicki! Let's hope she doesn't suffer the same fate of his beloved kitten.
Christine: Are we being gaslit now to believe that Vicki dreamed she saw the ghost of Bill Malloy, or that we dreamed it? Vicki herself said, "I may have been dreaming, but what I saw was real. Oh, I don't mean it that way. It was unreal and supernatural. But even if I was dreaming, I certainly didn't dream that seaweed on the floor."
Yet there are papers strewn about the floor that weren't there before, no seaweed in sight, and no mention of it in yesterday's episode when Roger scoffed at Vicki's ghost sighting.

Vicki was hysterical and seemed traumatized by her experience afterward, even wanting to leave Collinwood because of the ghost's warning. Yet today she's willing to lead a reluctant Carolyn back to the room to see the proof of the seaweed, reassuring her that there's nothing to be afraid of. What are we to make of that?
In addition, the gap under the door has increased, allowing the key to slide under it easily. Really, it would have been funny if Vicki had locked herself and Carolyn in the room as a result of that demonstration.

Then there's Vicki's diary entry. Did she embellish it, or is this part of an effort to get us to believe it didn't really happen, since what she describes is not what we saw. From her reading of her diary:
The ghost said distinctly that he had been murdered and that the murderer was someone who lived in Collinsport. Then it said that the same thing might happen to me.
Shadows on the Wall
John: The boom mic shadow makes another appearance today after Vicki mentions Roger having scolded David for locking her in the room.
While we got another entry for the Hanscombe file, it's disappointing knowing that nothing will ever come of it. Except for the anecdotal introduction to the Garner & Garner law firm...
Christine: If this part of the house has been closed for half a century then how did the Garners' ledger with B. Hanscombe get there?
Should we start tracking days David is suited up? I wonder if he dons his suit every time he's attempted murder or committed some other type of crime.
So Vicki has a diary now? I wonder if she will discontinue writing letters to herself. Just in case I decide to track journal entries, here is what David read from Vicki's diary. Thankfully, he read it aloud so we could hear it, even with Matthew working just outside the door:
I knew immediately that it was Mr. Malloy—or the ghost of Mr. Malloy. He was wearing the same clothes in which I had last seen him. He was soaking wet as though he just dredged up from his watery grave. There was seaweed hanging from his shoulders. It was the most horrible sight I have ever seen in my life.

A few things struck me watching this:
1) Matthew is obviously not the type of person who likes to finish one thing before starting another—he was easily distracted by David.
2) Perhaps if you know someone is changing a lock and you are going to enter the area that is to be locked, perhaps you should let someone know that you are going in there, unless the idea of being locked in appeals to you.
3) Considering that David deliberately led Victoria through a confusing and circular path (in the dark) to the room, Victoria went straight to it in this episode.
