At the old house, Barmanas calls for Will. He opens the passage to the secret room, not realizing that Julia is watching him from the window.

Julia wonders what's inside the secret room, and decides to come back later when Barnabas is out of the house.

Barnabas decides if he finds whose hiding Maggie he'll use his cane on them.

Maggie tries to pick the lock on her cell door, but is unsuccessful. She realizes that she can't give up and tries again.

Elizabeth and Sabrina arrive back at Cyrus' lab. Elizabeth invites her for dinner, and Sabrina declines the invitation, and thanks her for taking her to a concert. Elizabeth tells her that Cyrus will be back soon. She says she doesn't understand young people... Maggie running off... Cyrus going away. Yaeger shows up and bids them good evening. Elizabeth asks who he is, because they haven't met. Sabrina introduces him. He adds that he's a close associate of Cyrus. He and Elizabeth exchange pleasantries. She then tells them goodnight, and tells Sabrina that she'll let her know if she hears from Maggie.

Yaeger asks Sabrina what they were doing in the lab. She says she left her purse in the lab, referring to him as Cyrus. He grabs her and tells her never to call him that name.

He opens the safe and takes out some cash. He then opens up his wardrobe, and tells her to send his clothes to New York. He writes a check for her to use to get a certified check for John Yaeger. She points out that it's his whole account. She asks him not to do it. He asks if she'll miss him, or just the good doctor. He adds that Cyrus is never coming back, and leaves.

Julia serves Elizabeth tea. Julia asks if she has seen Barnabas. Elizabeth says he's out searching for Maggie. Julia says she wonders why Quentin didn't check Barnabas' background more thoroughly. Elizabeth reminds her that he is a member of the Collins family, and the name means integrity. Julia leaves, and Liz dozes off. She has a dream of Cyrus' lab. She and Sabrina are there, and papers are strewn about. Sabrina screams when she sees Maggie's dead body in the room with them. Elizabeth bolts awake. She leaves the house, not telling Julia where she's going.

Maggie continues to work on the lock, ultimately getting it to open. Just outside the door, Yaeger stops her and says he hopes she's not thinking of leaving. He says she's a liar and hypocrite. She says she heard someone upstairs, thought it was him, and when she tried the door it was open. He picks up the device she used to pick the lock. He grabs a rope and says he'll cure her restlessness. He ties her hands and she pleads with him. He doesn't realize that Sabrina is just outside the door, listening to Maggie's pleas. She begs Yaeger not to hurt Quentin.

In the old house, Elizabeth asks Barnabas if he found any trace of Maggie. He says he didn't realize she also though she was missing. Elizabeth tells him she had a dream. She was in Cyrus' lab with Sabrina, where they found Maggie's dead body. Elizabeth says that maybe it's because they saw John Yaeger there. Elizabeth asks if he thinks there's a connection between Yaeger and Maggie's disappearance. He says he's going to find out.

Yaeger tells Maggie that she can yell all she wants, as no one will hear them. He kisses her against her will.

Sabrina hears a struggle and leaves.

Yaeger puts Maggie in her bed, and goes outside the room. He doesn't see anyone, but he finds the check he made out for Sabrina. He realizes that she followed him, and knows about Maggie.

Barnabas searches Cyrus' lab for clues. He sees clothes in a wardrobe that must be Yaeger's because he decides they wouldn't belong to Cyrus. He realizes that there's a connection between the two men, and it might lead him to Maggie.

Sabrina arrives at Collinwood and calls for Quentin or Elizabeth. No one comes, so she picks up the phone and starts to dial. She's grabbed from behind by Yaeger, who throws her into the drawing room and closes the door behind them.

She asks him why he's there, and he asks her the same. She says she came to see Elizabeth. He stops her and asks if she's going to the bank with his check. She says she was, and it's in a safe place, locked in a drawer in the lab. He pulls out the check and says he found it on the stairway to the basement. She asks what he's going to do, and he says she knows. She asks what he's planning to do to Maggie. She then realizes he's going to kill her. She calls him Cyrus, and Yaeger says there's not a trace of Cyrus in him, and starts choking her.

Elizabeth walks in as he drops Sabrina's unconscious body on the ground.

Our thoughts

John: Since when is Barnabas' cane all-powerful? I guess they had to set expectations how he'd be able to take out someone like John Yaeger...

Christine: I expect they are setting us up to find out who has a bigger cane. I thought we were going to lose Barnabas as he tripped on his way out of the Old House.

John: Did anyone else do a spit-take when Elizabeth claimed that the Collins name means integrity? We've yet to visit that particular time band.

Christine: The Collins family likes to maintain their illusions no matter the time band.

John: When are women going to learn that there's no lying to John Yaeger. At least Maggie is somewhat safe in that he loves her... Sabrina, on the other hand, might not live through the week.

Christine: I think the fact that Yaeger loves Maggie makes her less safe, but I suppose it's a matter of perspective.

Dark Shadows Episode 1028 6/3/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com!

Maggie is in bed asleep when John Yaeger sneaks into her room. He approaches her in bed thinking about where he can take her. As he gets closer, the phone rings in her bedroom. Yaeger hides behind a curtain, and hears her talking to Quentin, who is at Cyrus' lab with Sabrina.

She hangs up the phone and there's a knock on her door. It's Daniel, asking about his father. She says he's at Cyrus', and he says he'll go to his cousin Roger. She asks if she can help. He says he saw a man outside the house. She asks if he's sure it wasn't his imagination, and then apologizes for doubting him. She takes him to find Roger, and Yaeger comes out from behind the curtain. He takes Maggie's hair brushes.

Sabrina reviews Cyrus' notes. Yaeger bursts in, surprising him. She calls him Cyrus, and he says that's not his name. He asks her where Quentin is. She says he's gone. He asks if he went to the police. She says no. Yaeger says it's no wonder why Cyrus was bored by her. He tells her he went to the Eagle every night to see Buffie. He then tells Sabrina that he has murdered Cyrus, adding that she saw Cyrus' face turn into his. She says she knows that Cyrus is still inside him. He says Cyrus' detestable traits don't exist anymore. She asks why he used his body, and Yaeger said he did it to escape. He threatens her with his cane-knife.

She mentions Gladstone, and Yaeger says he was his first victim, and his sword hungers for another. He asks her if she'll be its next victim. He puts the blade away. She asks why he killed Gladstone, and Yaeger says he tried to blackmail him. She says there must be a way for him to turn back to Cyrus. She says she wants to help him, and Yaeger says he has too much to do that Cyrus can't do. She says she'll be there waiting when he needs her.

Yaeger is surprised she loves him that much. He says that she needs to be there at this time, every night. If he comes in and needs help, then she will help him. He says he's going to take something that Cyrus was too timid to take. He threatens her, saying if she speaks to anyone about him, she'll end up like Gladstone.

Maggie asks Daniel if he's seen Julia. She doesn't know what happened to her brush and mirror. Daniel tells her he has something for her, and hands her a seashell. He tells her he found it this morning. She thanks him for it. He offers to take her where he found it some time, and she says she'd like that very much.

A man offers Yaeger a good deal on a room for rent. He says the room would be perfect for his laboratory. He confirms there's only one door, and that the room is soundproofed. He tells the man that he measures the velocity of high speed notes, and the room would be perfect. He offers to rent it immediately, and the man accepts. Yaeger tells him he wants a cot, a comfortable rocking chair, and a mirror.

Daniel tells Maggie that he saw Julia, and she doesn't know where her things are. Daniel tells her that strange things happen in the house, and he has a feeling something horrible is going to happen tonight.

Yaeger returns to his new room, now furnished with a cot, mirror and rocking chair. He fondles Maggie's brush when his landlord comes in to settle. Yaeger asks if he's leaving town tonight, and said all his goodbyes. The landlord says he didn't have too many goodbyes to say.

He asks Yaeger about his experiments again. Yaeger says he is a curious man. He tells him he's going to use the room as a dungeon. The landlord suggests that next he's going to tell him that he's going to find a fairy princess and lock her up. Yaeger says he hadn't planned on telling him that, but he's right. The landlord asks if he's serious. Yaeger pulls his cane-knife, saying that no one will miss him, as he stabs him.

Maggie tells Daniel that he was wrong, nothing terrible happened. She tells him that she thinks they're going to be really good friends, and says goodnight. Her phone rings, and though it's Yaeger, she thinks it's Cyrus. He says he's in town and needs to see her. He asks her to meet him, and that she not tell anyone. She asks if it has anything to do with Yaeger. He tells her to meet him at Widow's Hill at 11pm. She says she doesn't understand, but she agrees. He tells her he'll be in danger if she tells anyone. She agrees to meet him.

Our thoughts

John: Yaeger is a bit too big and clumsy to be able to hide in plain sight... Even if Maggie didn't see him hiding behind the curtain, I would have expected Daniel to!

Christine: I might have expected that also, but considering that Daniel is a young teen seeing Maggie in a flimsy nightgown, it's understandable that he may not have been able to pay attention to anything else in the room.

John: I don't know if Yaeger's tick cane is just cheap, or if he's used it too much. But I did get a laugh when the sword fell right out of it today!

Christine: I was laughing up until the time his tongue slithered out again. I thought that was pretty gross, and then he outdid himself when he started French kissing Maggie's hairbrush. Blech!

John: How long into Yaeger's looking around of the bricked up rental before everyone at home realized that Maggie was about to get kidnapped—again!

Christine: It was about the time he was asking about the door, and if the place was soundproof. Yaeger's mustache seems to be migrating across his face today. Am I going to have to start a Yaeger 'stache tracker?

Dark Shadows Episode 1027 6/2/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com!

Barnabas stares at the portrait and says he must know the truth of Angelique, and calls her to come closer. Angelique bursts in screaming about her eyes, telling him to stop looking at him. He says he's looking into Angelique's eyes. She says that he knows, and he confirms that he does.

She asks how he discovered that she is Angelique. He says he's a cousin of Quentin, and a friend of Quentin and Maggie. She says he is not human. He tells her his reason for summoning him is to stop her plot to destroy Maggie. She asks what he'll do if she refuses, and he says he will stop her himself. She says Quentin is convinced she's Alexis. She tells him that she has powers stronger than his, and he says we shall see, and bids her good night.

He leaves, and she picks up the phone. She calls her father, and tells him she must see him immediately. He says he's not interested. She says she has something to tell him about Angelique, and tells him to meet her in Angelique's bedroom in half an hour.

Barnabas comes downstairs when Quentin returns. He asks if Maggie is alright, and Barnabas says she's upstairs, and he should go see her. He says he will in a minute. Barnabas asks him if he ever met Alexis before she arrived, and he says no. Barnabas says he was just curious, and excuses himself.

Mr. Stokes arrives and asks Angelexis what she has to say about her sister. She congratulates her father on his experiment, telling him that she's come back. He hugs her. She says for safety's sake, he should call her Alexis. He says that although she was only his stepdaughter, he is sad Alexis is dead.

Angelique tells him that they have work to do, to get back together with Quentin. She explains that Barnabas Collins is getting in her way. She adds that she, Quentin and Barnabas have experienced weird things in the room. After a brief description, he identifies what she saw as parallel time. He describes the theory to her.

Maggie is sleeping when Quentin comes into the room. His presence causes her to wake up. She tells him that she was worried about him, and asks why he left they way he did. He asks if anyone told her the dress she was wearing. She says she knows now that it was Angelique's, but she didn't know that when Alexis suggested it as a costume.

She tells him that she almost killed herself last night, when Angelique's voice told her she had nothing to live for. He tells her that she was imaging that. He says he's struggling to understand things. He says he's willing to start over again.

Stokes enters the old house and looks around. He finds Barnabas' cane. Barnabas comes in and asks who he is. Stokes introduces himself, and says he's a friend of Will Loomis. Barnabas takes his cane from him. Stokes asks if he's Barnabas. He says he looks very 18th century. Barnabas reminds him that there was a costume party last night. Stokes says it's a tradition started by his daughter.

Barnabas asks if he's the father of Angelique an Alexis. He says he's her stepfather, adding that there's only one of them left now. He asks Barnabas if they have met before. The clock chimes, and Barnabas tells him that he needs to get some sleep.

Sabrina asks Cyrus what's wrong with him. She says they haven't seen each other in days, and she doesn't know if they're still engaged. He asks if she wants him to answer that, and she says she knows it's stupid. There's a knock at the door and Sabrina goes upstairs to answer it. Cyrus hears her welcoming Maggie in.

Maggie tells Cyrus that Quentin didn't believe she heard Angelique's voice from the portrait. He says Quentin will always be involved with Angelique. He tells her there are other men in the world besides Quentin. She says he doesn't sound like himself. He struggles, and asks her politely to leave. She does, and he convulses.

Sabrina comes downstairs and finds John Yaeger in Cyrus clothes. She says it can't be true, and Yaeger tells her it is. She asks about the experiment, and he says it succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. Sabrina tells him she loves him no matter what happens, and asks him not to go. He says she couldn't possibly understand.

They hear Maggie come back in, and he sends Sabrina to deal with her. They come downstairs and Maggie asks where Cyrus is. Sabrina says he left out of the side door. Maggie asks if he's not feeling well, as he treated her differently than he has before. Quentin comes downstairs looking for Cyrus. Sabrina says he went to the chemist, and Quentin says he'll wait. Sabrina suggests that they go wait upstairs. Quentin asks her why she's so nervous. He then asks Maggie why she's there. She says she wanted to talk to Cyrus about what happened in Angelique's room. He storms out.

Yaeger thinks that Maggie won't be dealing with the likes of Quentin much longer. He'll see to that.

Barnabas meets up with Quentin at Collinwood. He asks about Maggie. Quentin says he thought she was getting better, but she has a fixation on Angelique. She says she thinks she heard her voice coming from the portrait. He says he was just going to see Cyrus, and Barnabas offers to go with him.

Maggie is in bed asleep when John Yaeger sneaks into her room. He approaches her in bed...

Our thoughts

John: In addition to a doorway to parallel time, it would seem that the doorway to Alexis' bedroom is accessible to any character whenever the plot warrants it. Why there's papa Stokes now! And he didn't even have to come through the front door!

Christine: Interesting to find out that he helped orchestrate her return from the dead. Were they both expecting her to be in mortal danger to have prepared an experiment in resurrection?

John: So why the last minute lane-change, making Stokes the 'step-father' to Angelique and Alexis. And what does that mean for his unnatural fondness for one identical twin over the other?

Christine: I hate to guess. I wonder what happened to their mother and why she is never mentioned. Perhaps we'll get filled in on the Stokes family history at some point, though I wouldn't count on it.

John: Sabrina seemed a little quick to accept that Cyrus and Yaeger were in fact one and the same. Of course, her devotion didn't seem to register with Yaeger. He seems more interested in just about every other person in Collinsport than Sabrina.

Christine: The Collins family really needs to start locking doors with all the strangers traipsing in and out of the place. Yaeger seemed to have no trouble getting into Maggie's bedroom. Since Cyrus destroyed all his potion making equipment, I wonder if he is going to be stuck in Yaeger form forever now, or if he will be able to revert back to Longworth without potion.
