Dark Shadows Episode 1198 1/27/71

In the drawing room, Barnabas tells Angelique that he knows how he feels. Trask bursts in and calls out, "Die, witch!" before shooting her. Barnabas wrestles the gun away from Trask and says he should have killed him before. He drops him to the ground and calls to Julia. 

Angelique asks him to hold her, telling him she's dying. He tells her that he loves her. She dies in his arms. 

Trask starts to get up, and Barnabas grabs him. Trask runs upstairs and Barnabas follows him. He finds his way into a room and grabs a letter opener. He stabs Barnabas with it, but Barnabas sticks it in his belly. Trask wanders into the room in the East Wing and is transported into parallel time. Barnabas sees him, and then watches as he disappears when the room reverts to being empty.

Barnabas comes downstairs and picks up Trask's gun. He lays it on a table and kneels beside Angelique's dead body. He tells her that he was so often blinded by his fury, yet beneath his rage was a love as strong as hers.  

Julia comes in, and he tells her that Angelique is dead. He says Trask killed her before she knew that he loved her. He explains that she was his only love, and she never knew. She asks what happened, and he says Trask attacked him, and has disappeared into parallel time.

Desmond wonders where Leticia is. Flora says she doesn't know. She's just pleased that he is free. She chides herself for falling for Gerard's charm. She says that at least he brought them Leticia. Leticia returns and she and Desmond embrace and kiss. Flora leaves them. He asks where she has been, and she says she's been walking on the beach. He tells her that they're leaving Collinsport to get married in New York.

Barnabas tells Julia and Stokes that the police believed his story. He adds that Angelique is to be buried in the family mausoleum. Stokes says they must return to their own time. Barnabas asks how, and Stokes says they must ascend Quentin's staircase. He says they must return to Collinwood in their time to know if they've succeeded. He says it's 1971 there now. Barnabas wonders about what their visit has done to Collinwood in 1971. Desmond walks in and asks if they've gone mad, saying 1971 is 130 years from now. Julia explains that they came from the future. Stokes says they came down Quentin's staircase. He says they must be destroyed. Barnabas tells them they must leave him there. They're adamant that he must return with them. Desmond says that if Barnabas is staying for Valerie's funeral, he and Leticia can stay. Barnabas agrees to trying to ascend the stairs. 

Desmond is amazed to hear about the room in the East Wing, after hearing about the stairs. Barnabas says he must stop Trask if he tries to escape from parallel time. Desmond assures them that if he escapes, he will deal with him. He says he will tell no one the secret but Leticia and Quentin. They say their goodbyes. He asks how he will know if they made it, and Barnabas says he must assume that they have. As they ascend the stairs, Julia asks what they should do if they return to Collinwood in ruins. At the top of the stairs, Stokes opens the door and the three step through into disco lights. 

Barnabas, Julia and Stokes exit the stairwell. Collinwood is still standing, and Julia assumes they changed everything.

Two hours later, Barnabas dressed in 1971 fashions, Barnabas says they haven't seen a single person in the whole house. Stokes points out the refrigerator was full of food. Julia says there are no signs of the ghosts of Gerard and Daphne. Elizabeth walks in and tells them they're all late for opening of the historical center. She tells them to hurry. She says she returned to get Roger's speech. Julia asks if David and Hallie are there, and Elizabeth confirms it. Barnabas asks about Quentin and Carolyn, and she says they are there as well. She finds Roger's speech, and invites them to go with her. She mentions to Stokes that she found a journal from one of her ancestors, Flora Collins, in the West Wing that she's giving to the historical society tonight. Barnabas tells Julia that the ghosts of Gerard and Daphne never came there. He says the stairway is likely no more; destroyed by Desmond. 

Desmond chops at the staircase, wondering if Barnabas, Julia and Stokes made it back to their own time.

Leticia calls to Desmond. He comes upstairs and she says she was worried about him. He tells her to come with her to the East Wing. 

Leticia can't believe that Valerie is dead, and Trask is in another band of time. He tells her to wait until she hears the rest. He opens the door to an empty room. He stops her before she enters, and it suddenly changes. They see Trask, stabbed, calling for help. Leticia says that he's dead. She then sees Julia enter and call to Flora. Flora arrives and says it finally happened. What they've dreaded. Julia shuts the doors Desmond and Leticia are watching from. Flora says first poor Stella, and now this stranger. Julia goes back to the door and looks for anyone. She sees no one. She tells Flora they must get rid of the body. 

Melanie is looking for Julia. She calls to her mother. Flora appears and Melanie tells her that her father is dying. Julia says that the lottery will happen again before the week is over.

Our thoughts:  

John: While tending to her wound, Barnabas was applying compressions to Angelique's chest like he was ringing a bell to call a servant!

 

Christine: It's interesting that Barnabas has finally realized that he loves Angelique. Think of all the trouble he could have saved the family if he'd admitted it much sooner. 

                                                                                                                           

John: So for all intents and purposes, it looks like on this day we saw the 'finale' of Dark Shadows. Chronologically speaking, anyway. And lest anyone think that 1840 parallel time would continue with any relevance to the show, Trask has up and died, and his body already disposed of. At this point, I'm doubting we'll even see any more of our time band in 1840.

 
Christine: At least we know there are two happy couples, the kids will survive, and Flora will go on to flourish as a novelist. Perhaps she'll go exploring in the east wing and get the inspiration to pen "The Collins Lottery." 

John: I guess it's now safe to assume we'll ride out the remainder of the show's run watching this other soap opera play out. This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper.

 

Christine: It is disappointing to be whisked away to a parallel past without spending some time with the present day Collins family. 

Dark Shadows Episode 1196 1/25/71

Angelique prepares to stab a voodoo doll with another pin when Gerard comes into the room. He realizes that she is in fact Miranda. He tells her that she has used her powers for the last time. He tells her that she's clever for recognizing him as Judah. He brings how he was beheaded because of her. He grabs her and she refuses to look into his eyes. He forces her to look him in the eyes, and tells her that he taught her powers when she was a young girl. She says that she has learned more since then. He threatens to make her human again. He takes away the powers he bestowed upon her. He lets go of her, he gives her back the voodoo doll, and his handkerchief. She wraps it around the dolls neck and tries to strangle it. It doesn't work. He grabs her and leads her out of the room.

Barnabas returns to the East Wing where she sees someone Melanie speaking to her father, Justin Collins. She reminds him that she was adopted. He tells her that she saved his life. Catherine comes into the room and greets Justin. She asks if he's feeling better, and he doesn't respond. She shows her wedding invitation to Melanie, who asks if she's inviting Bramwell to the wedding. Melanie explains that he's coming back. Catherine says that if Morgan wants it, Bramwell will be invited. Melanie shows Justin the invitation and he freaks out. Melanie sends Catherine to get his medication. Justin tells Melanie that Catherine must not marry Morgan. He says no strangers in the house... he mentions 'the room'... and says no one must know. Melanie tells him they will not have the lottery again. He tells her to close the door so they can talk. She does.

On the other side of the closed door, Barnabas wonders what room he was talking about. 

Gerard assures Dawson that Miranda is harmless. He doesn't want to keep her there. Gerard tells him that Quentin will soon be dead, and people will think that Judah Zachery is gone. He promises to return to Miranda to give her his full attention once Quentin is dead. Dawson asks for permission to kill her if she tries to escape. Gerard encourages him to try to keep her alive. Gerard tells her that he'll see her after the execution, and leaves. Dawson tells her not to try to escape.

Leticia visits Desmond in his cell. He asks her to promise to give a letter to Flora that changes his will so that Leticia will get his inheritance. She tells him Flora has gone to get the governor. He says they found a law allowing them to execute a warlock's follower without a trial. He tells her that had they made it to Boston, he would have married her. She asks him to marry her in his cell. He tells her that it would be too dangerous. They might say she was part of their coven and arrest her. He refuses. She asks him to say the words so they'll know in their hearts. She says her vows aloud, and he does the same. They kiss. 

Barnabas visits Quentin in his cell. Quentin says he deserves to die for allowing Gerard to fool him. Barnabas assures Quentin that he will rescue Daphne, and run Gerard out of Collinwood. He says that Quentin will be avenged. Quentin says that he's more concerned about Desmond. And then he expresses concern for Tad. He asks Barnabas to try and convince him that he's not guilty, and that he was not afraid to die. 

Dawson tells Miranda that she should have tried to fight Judah Zachery. She tells Dawson that she never used her powers to get a man, and that she could have gotten him. She goes to kiss him. He tells her that he almost believed her for a minute, but he knows how desperately she wants to escape. He says he's more afraid than he is attracted to her. He says there's nothing she could do to help Quentin or Desmond anyway. She asks why he won't let her go then. He tells her that she won't turn Judah against him, but when he turns away, she clocks him with a candlestick. Miranda realizes that he's dead.

Gerard counts down the minutes to Quentin's execution. Leticia comes in and calls him Judah, saying he killed Gerard. She pulls a knife and he disarms her. As he leaves, he tells her that she is no longer welcome in the house. 

Desmond and Quentin share a last moment together. Quentin tells him that what he minds the most is that Desmond got caught up in everything. The guards come for them, and Quentin leaves first.

Leticia tells Barnabas that she tried to kill Gerard, but nothing can save them now. He asks her where Valerie is.

The executioner practices on a log, slicing it in half. The guards bring Quentin out, and Gerard, who is there as a witness, tells Quentin that he wouldn't miss this for the world. Desmond watches as they lead Quentin to the executioner. 

They start to blindfold him and he refuses it. He says, "When I was born, I saw the light of day. And when I die, I want to see the dark of night." He gets into position beneath the executioner. 

Our thoughts:  

John: I love how people just decide to tune into parallel time as if it were a separate soap opera that they could pick up and follow on demand... I have to admit that I was surprised at this late date to see another new face. I was sure that Justin Collins would have been portrayed by Louis Edmonds.

 

Christine: Honestly, I'd love to see one of the characters standing at the door to parallel time with a bag of popcorn just once! The fact that Louis Edmonds is not playing the role of Justin Collins, in addition to the copious amount of pasty makeup he's wearing, might indicate that he has a short expiration date. 

                                                                                                                           

John: And just like that, Mirangelique is stripped of her powers? It's amazing how characters are so suddenly gifted with previously unused powers where the story calls for it!

 
Christine: It looks like he gave her a Barbie knockoff to test that her powers were gone. Perhaps that's why the spell didn't work!

John: You'd think they could have at least had the executioner raise the axe before the episode faded to black...

 

Christine: If you look closely while Quentin's head is on the chopping block, you'll see the pole swing back as it had been raised, though I suppose you were expecting the cliche blade in the air. It is still a chilling moment. Do you think heads will roll tomorrow, or will something completely ludicrous happen to save the day?

Dark Shadows Episode 1194 1/21/71

Daphne and Quentin express their love for one another, and he asks her to marry him. She agrees. They kiss, and do not notice Gerard outside the window, eavesdropping on them.

At Rose Cottage, Daphne and Leticia discuss their plans to leave Collinwood. She tells her that she has to go to Collinwood to get cash out of their safe. Flora comes in and tells Leticia that she knows she knows where Desmond is. She asks if something new has developed. Leticia tells her that the four of them are leaving in the dead of night. Flora is pleased he's taking her with him. She says she wants to say goodbye to him, and asks where he is. Daphne says that she can't tell Gerard where he is.

Dawson asks Gerard why he hasn't used his powers to find Quentin. Gerard assures him that Quentin and Desmond will be back in jail in the morning. Dawson asks what he's waiting for. Gerard says that he has not suffered enough. He says that he has a plan involving someone else. Daphne returns to Collinwood and Gerard tells her that they were just talking about her. She apologizes for interrupting them. Gerard tells her that Dawson wanted to see her. Gerard says that he'll vouch for Daphne not knowing where Quentin is. She excuses herself, and Gerard stops her, asking her to play a game. She says she's not in the mood. He says he'd like to talk to her later, and she shakes her head and goes upstairs. He and Dawson retire to the drawing room, and Gerard explains that he needs his help with some paperwork.

Leticia asks Daphne if she found the money. She says she hasn't yet. She says Gerard and Dawson were there but left, and Leticia sends her back upstairs in search of the money. Gerard returns to Collinwood and finds Leticia in the drawing room. He asks if she remembers when he first brought her to Collinwood. She says that he's changed her. He offers her a drink, and suggests that they drink to a wedding. He reiterates that there will be a wedding tonight at Collinwood. She asks who he's marrying. He says he didn't say he was. He asks her if Daphne will be seeing Quentin tonight. She says if Quentin has an ounce of sense, he's 1000 miles away by now. He tells her that she's lost her sense of humor. She says she's got to find Daphne to invite he to dinner with Flora tomorrow night. 

In the East Wing, Daphne hears music beyond the door into parallel time. She opens it and sees who she think is Flora. The woman calls Melanie and asks her if she feels alright. She asks her if she was going to the West Wing, and Melanie says she wasn't. She says she never goes to the West Wing. She tells Melanie that the servants found her father in the corridor outside the room in the West Wing last night. Melanie says if he goes there one more time, he'll die. Melanie says they can't stand to have that lottery again. She says they should all leave the house. Her mother says that a generation ago, William Collins discovered that leaving didn't help. She says it happens to them wherever they go. She tells Melanie that her father wants to see her. 

Quentin tells Flora that they'll be on their way in a few hours. She tells him that Desmond is not well enough to travel. He assures her that he'll take care of Desmond. 

Gerard watches Daphne, who sits in the drawing room. He takes out his devil's sigil, and says that Daphne will have her last dream, in which she learns that they must become man and wife. Daphne falls asleep and dreams. In it, Gerard asks her why she's leaving him. She says she can't remember anything when she's with him, and they kiss. He tells her to remember that he adores her, and she loves him. She says she knows. He asks her to promise to never leave him, and she agrees. He says that when she wakes, her dream will come true, and they will share their lives together. Gerard wakes her, telling her that she had a bad dream. She kisses him. He tells her they will get married, and says he will call for the minister.

Leticia comes downstairs and finds Daphne in the foyer. She says they've got to go, and Daphne says she changed her mind and doesn't want to go anymore. Leticia asks why, and she tells her that she's going to marry Gerard.

Quentin can't believe Daphne is going to marry Gerard. He leaves as Leticia warns him not to go to Collinwood, saying that it's a trap. 

Daphne and Gerard exchange vows, and are pronounced man and wife. Quentin enters and says, "No!"

Our thoughts:  

John: Wasn't Daphne just giving a lecture on how parallel time works? Today she seems mystified by the strangers she can't speak to in the room she can't enter.

 

Christine: I was wondering how she couldn't hear Gerard telling her to sleep and dream outside the drawing room. 

 

John: Ah, The Lottery. I guess we now know what inspired the storyline for this final trip into parallel time.

 
Christine: There weren't many gothic stories left to mine, were there?

John: Once again, Quentin arrives just after the wedding ceremony was performed. He really needs to work on his timing!

 

Christine: I swear that has got to take the record for fastest soap opera wedding. It wasn't possible for Quentin to arrive on time without the ability to materialize like vampire Barnabas. Speaking of...where do you suppose he's been hiding out all this time while Quentin and Desmond have been trying to escape?

 

John: Blink and you'll miss the crew member who poked his head out of the drawing room to see if Gerard was standing there!

 

Christine: I must have blinked. 

Dark Shadows Episode 1190 1/15/71

While Gabriel watches parallel time, Stella goes to shut the door, and asks a person Gabriel can't see if they've been hiding behind the door all this time. She then asks why they have a knife in their hand. The door shuts and she screams. Gabriel pounds on the door and tries to get in. The door suddenly opens, and he goes into an empty room.

At the docks, Quentin and Joanna return, telling Daphne that the boat left without them. Leticia says that Julia is with Desmond. Quentin says that he has to go to Collinwood. Joanna says he understand that he's in love with Daphne as much as she's in love with him. He tells her that he has an idea how she can help him. He asks her to go to Gabriel, who might not want Gerard to end up with Daphne. 

Daphne reiterates that she told him everything she knows about the strange room in the East Wing. He says he thinks it's curious that you can live under the same roof with someone and not notice all of their special qualities. He tells her that he can see why Quentin and Gerard were attracted to her. She says that it's a shame what happened to him. He asks what she means. She says that she always thought he was the most misunderstood person in the house. He adds the most underestimated. She says that out of the wheelchair, it's clear how attractive he is. He asks why she never told him that before. She points out that he was a married man. He says he was married to a pig, but she's not alive any more. She says Edith shouldn't have treated him the way she did. 

Rubbing her shoulder, he asks her how she would have treated him. He nuzzles up against her and says he may have changed his plans about her. He says after he gets his money from Gerard, he'll keep her with him, and give her anything she wants. As he turns her face to kiss her, she squirms to get away, and squeals. He realizes that she was lying to him. He tells her that he'll give her one chance to prove that she's nice, or she'll be dead. He gags her and tells her that he'll be back. After he leaves, she shuffles her chair towards a burning candle and starts burning the rope on her wrists.

Joanna returns to Collinwood looking for Daphne. He asks if she heard Quentin escaped from jail. She says Quentin says he may be able to tell her where Daphne is. He asks if she knows where Quentin is, and she says she does, but if he tells anyone, she'll deny it. He says that would give Gerard too much satisfaction. He says he looked like a doomed man, and is out looking for Quentin with the police. Joanna asks Gabriel what he thinks Gerard would have done with Daphne.

Daphne gets out of her restraints, but the door to the room she's in is locked. searches for a way out, and finds a level that opens a secret panel. She grabs a candle and steps inside. 

Joanna asks if Gabriel thinks Gerard would have harmed Daphne. He says he thinks he just didn't want her to see Quentin before he was executed. 

Daphne makes her way through the secret passage.

Joanna asks about the East Wing, reminding him of the sounds she heard. He tells her to check Daphne's bedroom first. She goes upstairs to look for any clues.

Daphne wanders the seemingly endless secret passage, realizing that she's gone in a circle and ended up back where she started.

Gabriel returns to the East Wing and finds Daphne gone. He looks around the room, and notices the lever that opens the secret panel. He steps inside and shuts the door just before Joanna enters the room. She sees the restraints and remnants of food, and realizes that Daphne was being kept in that room. She heads back downstairs.

Gabriel heads into the secret passage.

Daphne hears footsteps and hides in the shadows.

Leticia tells Quentin that Desmond is sleeping. She asks if Joanna has come back. He says she's been gone for three hours, and he's concerned that something happened to her. He says he has to go to Collinwood, and Leticia stops him. She says there are police everywhere looking for him. Leticia tells him that she thinks fate meant for he and Daphne to be together like it meant for she and Desmond to be together.

Joanna searches the East Wing, calling for Daphne. She hears voices, and opens a door. Inside, she sees who she thinks is Gabriel and Leticia. She tries talking to them, and to enter the room, but she can't, and they don't hear her. He calls her Melanie, and she calls him Gabriel. He pours himself a drink. He tells her not to tell his mother. She asks why he doesn't trust her. He says he thinks she'd just as soon slit his throat as look at him. 

She says she's tried so hard to be friends with him. He says friends, but not brother and sister. He points out that he is a Collins, and she was adopted, so she's not. He tells her that maybe someday she'll learn that it's not good to be a Collins. She asks him what happened to Stella, their mother's secretary. He says she left. She asks if she gave any notice, and he tells her it's not healthy to ask questions. He closes the door, and Joanna wonders why he called Leticia Melanie. She realizes that she has to find Daphne.

Daphne finds a door that leads outside. She steps out and is grabbed by Gabriel. 

Our thoughts: 

John: Ewww! I couldn't believe Gabriel was falling for Daphne's obvious ploy! Of course, since he was, you'd think that with her life on the line she could have feigned interest when he leaned in to kiss her...

 

Christine: I think it just goes to show that Gabriel is too detestable for her to pretend to enjoy his lips on her, even to save her own life. 

 

John: An all-time classic Dark Shadows blooper when Gabriel is unable to tie the gag around Daphne's head, and she literally has to bite down on it to keep it in her mouth!

 

Christine: It is always fun to see those scenes from the bloopers reel come up!

John: I know we've discussed this before, but honestly, how extensive do secret passages have to be for people to get lost in them? I'm not quite sure why the secret passages would have a door leading outside... and of course that's exactly where Gabriel would be waiting for her!

 

Christine: The secret passages have a door leading outside to give the inhabitants a way to leave the house without attracting notice, enabling them to have secret trysts or dispose of dead bodies. I love that the Mustache Man made a cobwebby appearance and was the marker for Daphne to realize she was going in circles. 

Dark Shadows Episode 1189 1/14/71

Joanna goes into a room, and doesn't see Gabriel hiding in the shadows, prepared to kill her. She leaves. 

Joanna comes downstairs. Gabriel wheels into the foyer and asks if she found her sister. She says she did not, and he tells her that he'll let her know if he sees her. She says she wanted to help Quentin. He asks why, and she says she thinks he would try. He says he's in mourning, having just lost his wife. She asks about the East Wing, asking if anyone goes in there. He says no, and she says she heard someone open a door last night. He says it might have been a ghost. She tells him that she doesn't believe in ghosts, and leaves. 

Quentin tells Joanna he's glad to see her. He says there isn't anything anyone can do for him. He adds that the worst thing is that Desmond is also in jail, and likely to be found guilty as well. Joanna says they can take Desmond with them. She tells him she bought a pistol. She says if he can break out, she will have everything worked out. She says there's a boat they can take to go to England. He asks about Daphne. She says he can decide if he wants to see Daphne when they get to England. She asks why he hesitates, and he says if he does, it will be an admission of guilt, and he's worried about Tad. He tells her that he doesn't know how, but he'll get to the boat. He then asks her to tell Desmond the same. Then she has to go to Collinwood to tell Daphne, or Leticia if she's not there. 

Leticia and Joanna are at the docks, and she's very excited. She suddenly has a feeling that it's not going to work. She says that something is going to happen, and they'll never get on the ship. Joanna tells her not to say that. Leticia says she's not ever going to see Desmond again after tonight. Joanna invites her to join them. She realizes Joanna is going with them, and asks about Daphne. Joanna says that they love Daphne, but Quentin belongs with him. Leticia realizes that she hasn't told Daphne. Joanna reiterates that Desmond wants her to come with them. She doesn't believe it. She says she'll be there when they come, and says she has to run an errand.

Gabriel tells Leticia she doesn't know where Daphne is, and suggests that she may have made an enemy. He points out that Gerard is also missing. He tells her about Daphne's confrontation with Gerard in Edith's room. Leticia points out that Gerard is fond of Daphne, but admits he has a temper. Leticia says they have got to find them. He says he can't help with his legs. 

The clock strikes 11, and Quentin calls the guard, complaining about his stomach. The guard comes into the cell and Quentin knocks him out with a karate-chop to the neck. He takes his keys and leaves. He goes to Desmond and lets him out. The guard wakes and grabs Quentin. They struggle, and in the melee, Desmond is shot. Quentin knocks the guard out again, and helps Desmond out of the jail.

Quentin tends to Desmond, who tells him to go with Joanna. Quentin tells her that they're taking Desmond with them. Desmond calls for Leticia. Leticia arrives and tells Quentin that Gerard has Daphne. She's then upset to see Desmond shot. She tells Quentin that they can't take Desmond. He says he can't go either, because of Daphne. Leticia goes to get Julia to treat Desmond. Quentin tells Desmond that they almost made it. Joanna asks Quentin if he's talking about Daphne. He says he's got to go to Collinwood. Joanna asks if he can forget about Daphne, and he says he can't. He tells her that he realized in jail that he couldn't live without Daphne. Joanna says she understands, but asks him to get on the ship. He tells her he'll take her to the ship. 

Leticia returns to Desmond, and tells him Julia is coming. She asks if his pain is bad. He says no, but she doesn't believe him. He says it's not when he holds her hand, and tells her that she shouldn't be there. He says they could have gone to England together. She didn't realize that he wanted her to come with them. He tells her that he loves her. She tells him that she loves him, too. They kiss.

Gabriel hears his voice in the East Wing. He sees himself in parallel time, talking to Stella. He asks if she likes Brandy, and she tells him she never touches spirits. He asks if his mother laid down the ground rules of the house, and based on her reaction, realizes that she has. Stella asks why she has to lock her door at night. He says that people in the village says they're proud. He warns her that if she stays, she'll end up like them. He tells her that he's going to go pick a lock on the cabinet that holds the brandy. 

Stella goes to shut the door, and asks the person Gabriel can't see if they've been hiding behind the door all this time. She then asks why they have a knife in their hand. The door shuts and she screams. Gabriel pounds on the door and tries to get in.

Our thoughts: 

John: I had to laugh when Gabriel told Joanna that he'd let her know if he sees her wife! Poor Gabriel has wives on the brain!

 

Christine: I had to play that again to make sure I heard him right. Quite the Freudian slip!

 

John: If breaking out of jail were so easy, why hadn't Quentin escaped by now? Of course, if you're not going to use a more debilitating attack, he should have at least a) disarmed the guard and b) locked him in the cell. Clearly he's not an experienced escape artist. It should come as no surprise that they won't all be sailing off to England to live happily ever after. Of course, if they had, I assume that it would have meant those four actors were being written out of the show, and this was their swan song...

 
Christine: It still gives Quentin the opportunity to try and vindicate himself somehow, or at least take care of Gerard while he's out.

John: Gabriel finally got to tune in to parallel time, perhaps just in time to see Stella get her groove back. At least his parallel-time counterpart appears to be yet another unsavory character. We'll see if we find out who her (attempted?) murderer is tomorrow.

 

Christine: I hope it's Julia. Her last parallel counterpart was pretty wicked, so hopefully this one shall be too. It looks like they are already drawing us in to parallel time, wondering why the family has to lock their doors at night, who hides behind doors with knives, and if Gabriel will successfully nab himself some brandy and behave badly.
