Shadows on the Wall: Episode 83

Before continuing, you may enjoy revisiting our original 50th anniversary summary and commentary: https://dsb4idie.blogspot.com/2016/10/episode-83-101966.html

Then & Now

John: I have to say, there are times watching the kinescopes (filmed recordings of the broadcast video) where I find it to be a welcome replacement for the soap-opera effect that comes with being shot on video. Unfortunately, you do lose some of the visual details, like what's available in the dessert tray at the diner, and the audio fidelity suffers.

Christine: I'm disappointed we don't get a better look at Roger's stunning cape ensemble. What a fashion icon! Eat your heart out, Alan Cumming!

John: Was Maggie licking her lips when Joe explained that he and Carolyn can never understand one another? Based on current developments, one might anticipate a Maggie/Carolyn catfight in the show's future.

Ten years later, I still find it curious that Liz' absence is unaddressed. Couldn't they have just said she was upstairs asleep?

Christine: Or as I previously suggested, they could have said she and Mrs. Johnson were over at Matthew's cottage, likely indulging in tea and his signature uneven muffins. Leaving Liz's whereabouts unexplained, when there is always so much to-do about her never leaving the grounds, was a blatant oversight.

Poor David. He so wants his father's love that he was able to be swayed by the gift of a cheap pen and easily set aside his earlier suspicion that Roger had stolen Vicki's pen. Too bad the crystal ball is on the fritz again.

Shadows on the Wall

John: Why Roger, why bury the pen when you could have just as easily destroyed it. At least he didn't throw it over the cliff, like he did Bill's body... Doh!

Christine: It may have been wiser for Roger to destroy the pen, but burying it lets us anticipate the possibility that it could be unearthed someday.

John: I don't think we need to create a key tracker, but surely Vicki knows better than to follow David into the closed-off section of the house!

Christine: How exciting to be finally (re)discovering the closed-off wing! It's been a few weeks since we were introduced to our first ghost, so this should be a good opportunity to encounter another.
