John: In the Burke and Bill exchange, I kept waiting for Burke to say, "Malloy, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!"

And Carolyn's history lesson appears to have the wrong last name for Josette...

Christine: After seeing Roger at work, I'm going to have to disagree with John Harris' assessment in yesterday's episode that he's no businessman. While Carolyn is in the office, Roger takes a call and tells the caller, "Well now, that is not the job of this department. If you will study the work charts I drew up, you will discover that you should be talking to Hanley in the marketing department." I'd be willing to bet poor old Hanley is delegated the majority of Roger's tasks, allowing Roger more time with his dartboard.

John: I love how in this first time showing Roger 'at work,' it plays out just as we might have imagined.

Today's episode reminds me that we're approaching a Quentin Tarantino title with the show, and I'm not talking about Once Upon a Time in Collinwood...

Christine: Look, John! Roger has a coat rack in his office! Perhaps he'll eventually recognize the need for one at Collinwood and we'll see this one turn up in the foyer. Let's keep an eye out!

John: Good to know he's at least aware of the technology! 

Christine: Today marks the first appearance of The Mustache Man, the most well-traveled portrait on the show, as he silently observes the chaos unfolding in Roger's office. 

John: I wonder if anyone has attempted to score Roger's dart game...

I know that pen will be important in the future. But does it warrant a pen tracker?

Christine: I don't think the pen merits its own page, but the Collins family history book, which Roger calls "The Holy of Holies," certainly does.

John: Exactly how long has Bill been at the Blue Whale? It seems like it was just minutes ago Carolyn called Vicki from Bangor, and now she's there? Even she asks Bill how long he's been there... Of course, 10 years later it's still not clear why she stopped in at The Blue Whale on her way home from Bangor.

Christine: She stopped in because there was no other character available in today's episode who would be likely to chat with Bill Malloy at the Blue Whale.

John: John Harris' arrival put Liz in the most genial spirits that I think we've ever seen her in. It made me wonder if she might be romantically interested in him. Unfortunately, it didn't last — as soon as John starts talking about Bill, Roger, and Ned, she gets all shaken up.

Christine: It did look like Elizabeth was about to spit out her tea when he shared his opinion about Roger not being any good to run the cannery.

John: Bill has been rapidly working his way up the drink tracking charts these last few days!

Can you tell what that brooch is that Liz is wearing?

Christine: Your guess is as good as mine. We'll have to keep an eye out for it on future viewings.

John: Carolyn reminds me that they still need a coat rack in the foyer!

Christine: It appears the Blue Whale has done away with its phone booth from Episode 3 and now has a phone mounted on the wall. It must be difficult to hear conversations with all the Bob Cobert tunes blasting from the jukebox. There also appears to be a cigarette machine conveniently located nearby that I had not noticed before. 

What new detail did you spot this time around?

John: No one wants to talk about the events of 10 years ago, but Maggie seems to have her finger on the pulse of what's going on. If she only took the time to read her father's letter, she might know everything.

I don't recall Sam helping himself to a donut. The way she offers up free food and drinks, it makes me wonder if Maggie owns the joint, or just works there and doesn't really care about such things.

I love how when Sam wants to talk to Bill about a private matter, they pull up chairs at the bar right next to the only other people in the Blue Whale.

Christine: That certainly didn't seem very discreet. Especially in a small town that likes to gossip about whatever is happening up at the big house. I think we can trust Bartender Bob to keep bar secrets to himself. Then again, perhaps he's only silent during working hours and spends his free time catching everyone else up on what he's heard. He could be responsible for half the gossip in Collinsport.

John: Maggie jokingly calls the diner the Collinsport Gourmeteteria, but as far as we know, it may actually be the best food in town. Of course it may be the only food in town.

So we can assume Sam blew all the money from 'selling his paintings' 10 years ago on alcohol, right? 

Christine: Sam's wife was sick and he needed the money for medical bills, but after she died, he eventually drank it away. 

I was really interested in seeing the changes Maggie was making to the order menu. Hopefully we'll get a glimpse of the menu sometime to compare to what was listed in Episode 7. Maybe she was increasing the prices to make up for all the free donuts and coffee she gives to her pop.

John: Is Bill Malloy trying to worm his way into the Collinsport drink tracker? And speaking of tracking drinks, did you notice that Vicki paid for the soda she didn't drink?

Is it just me, or have the knock sound effects on the door at Collinwood become more spooky of late? Or maybe they installed a doorbell that makes a spooky knocking sound...

Christine: What do you suppose the ornate box next to the door might be? Is it a mailbox? I don't think I've ever noticed it before.
