Amy wakes up screaming that something has happened to her brother. Vicki comes in and tells her she's just had a bad dream. Liz arrives and when she hears Amy's concern, she offers to call Chris. Amy says she saw Chris crying, and she wants to know why.

Downstairs, Liz calls the Collinsport Inn and is surprised to find out that Chris isn't there.

Vicki assures Amy that Chris is okay. Liz comes upstairs, and tells Amy that Chris is fine. Vicki tucks Amy back into bed.

Liz tells Vicki she hated to lie to Amy, and says she'll ask Chris to join them for lunch tomorrow. Vicki is brooding, and Liz tells her not to think about Jeff. Vicki shows her Jeff's watch, and points out that it stopped at the exact moment he disappeared. Liz begs her not dwell on the past, and Vicki points out that she would do the same in her place. Liz agrees, and bids her goodnight.

Vicki hears a door open, and she gets up and asks if Jeff is with her in the room. She asks him to show himself to her. Amy runs in and begs to let her sleep in her room. The door to the room shuts mysteriously and Vicki assumes it's Jeff.

The following day, Professor Stokes arrives to see Vicki. He asks Liz if she doesn't want him to see Vicki. She says she doesn't want him to encourage her, as she must forget Jeff Clark.

Amy asks Vicki about the watch in her room. Vicki explains that it belonged to her husband. Liz enters with Stokes. Amy meets him, and then Liz takes her away to work on her math. Vicki tells Stokes she feels Jeff with her constantly, and she has to join him. Stokes explains that he's not a wizard with the ability to transport people through time. Vicki asks if Jeff is there, listening to them, and Stokes says if he is, he will give her a sign to forget all of her insanity. She claims that Stokes gave something to Jeff, and he admits he gave him some herbs. Vicki demands that he give her the same. Stokes tries to explain that Jeff belonged in the past, and the herbs only helped realize that. Vicki says she'll sign a waiver. She asks Jeff to give Stokes a sign so that he will help her. Stokes tells her  that if Jeff is present, he agrees that her place is in the present. Vicki says she will join Jeff, and Stokes says the only way that will happen is if she dies.

Liz tucks in Amy. After she's gone, Amy goes to the window and asks who is out there, crying.

Stokes reminds Vicki that in 1795, she was considered a witch. He implores Vicki to forget about Jeff. She refuses to give him up, and runs out.

At the window, Amy asks why they're called the Widows, and asks them to let her help them. She goes back in to the room and tries to reach Quentin on the phone, but he won't answer.

Vicki runs downstairs, followed by Stokes. Liz tells her she can't leave. Vicki says she's not a child and runs outside. Liz tells Stokes someone was murdered by an animal last night. Amy comes downstairs and asks if they heard the widows crying. Liz opens the door and tells Stokes of the legend whereby if you hear the Widows at night, someone will die.

Vicki walks out to Widow's hill and looks over the cliff at the rocks below. She remembers Stokes' claim that the only way she can join Jeff is to die.

Our thoughts

John: Boy they're really making a big deal out of Jeff's watch. Of course no one other than Vicki believes it's proof that Jeff is reaching out to her through time. And if he could do that, you'd think he could do something else of significance to communicate with her.

Christine: I wonder if it actually slipped off him when he dematerialized and she doesn't remember picking it up in her state of shock. Vicki is going off the deep end.

John: Wow. In a day, Liz has all but adopted Amy. Makes you think the special attention she gave Vicki when she came to Collinwood may not have been as unique as we thought. Perhaps she just likes collecting strays...

Christine: I thought it was funny that Liz said she was going to help Amy with her arithmetic. Not only does she not want her to miss out on math skills in the one day she's been there, but she's willing to do Vicki's job to see that her education doesn't suffer while under their roof. I enjoyed Stokes' response to Amy's instant enthusiasm for him.

"Oh, my appeal extends to all ages now. Good!"

John: So Amy says she heard Chris crying, and then she hears the widows crying. Are we to believe she was mistaken, and it was always just the widows? Or is Chris equally upset about Vicki and Jeff? Will the wolfman be the one who keeps Vicki from going over the edge—literally?

Christine: Or will the wolfman be the one who causes her to go over? You may recall from Episode 50 that Liz told Vicki that someday there would be a third victim to jump from Widows' Hill. Will the legend finally be fulfilled?

I still love this one for the sake of Professor Stokes responding to Amy expressing he was funny and that she liked him with words to the effect of, "Oh, my appeal extends to all ages now. Good!" Hee hee heeeeeeeeee! ^_^
