John: In the pre-credit sequence, Liz walks into the drawing room and they immediately cut to the Blue Whale, making it momentarily seem like had she walked into the bar... 

Christine: Apparently Joe likes to call Bartender Bob Rooney "Punchy." I wonder how he earned that nickname. Perhaps he has to act as the bouncer as well as the bartender. I liked how Bartender Bob indicated with just a shake of his head that he knew who Maggie was and why she was there. 

John: If Quentin Tarantino had written today's episode, when Joe called him Punchy, Bartender Bob would have told him, I'm not your friend, Palooka.

Christine: I'm thinking of starting a Collinwood Clock-Watching tracker. Current score: Elizabeth — 6, Carolyn — 2, Burke — 1, Maggie — 1.

John: This episode had me thinking about counting the non-speaking patrons in The Blue Whale...

Christine: There's a moment when Maggie clutches her neck that reminds me of all the times we'll see her make this same gesture in future episodes.

Christine: "He hardly drank at all"? Where was Vicki during the gathering at the Evans house when Sam had a glass in hand or was reaching for the bottle for refills throughout the evening? Perhaps she wanted to push back on Roger's claim that Sam was probably drunk and the cause of their unpleasant evening.

John: I'm beginning to think that Sam's drinking is so pervasive, people around him (and viewers like me) somehow start to overlook it.

Christine: "Sam, if you came here to talk me out of saving your neck, the answer is no. It's too late for that." So is Burke saving Sam's neck or not? I'm confused.

John: Burke withholds alcohol from Sam to get him to talk. Smart guy, that Devlin.

Christine: "I have a rather personal fetish for accurateness." Perhaps someone should explain to Roger what a fetish is. Oh, he meant that kind of fetish. Or did he?

John: I feel the same way I did 10 years ago. Let's say Vicki doesn't already think Roger is guilty (being responsible for Burke being jailed, or for the death of Bill Malloy). Wouldn't his continued behavior start to convince her otherwise?

John: I do love the look on Roger's face when he starts to pour himself a drink and Vicki says Burke had a completely different story to tell about the accident.

Christine: Another wasted pour that Roger leaves untouched. Am I going to have to start tracking the drinks he pours and doesn't consume separately?
