Shadows on the Wall: Episode 39

Before continuing, you may enjoy revisiting our original 50th anniversary summary and commentary: https://dsb4idie.blogspot.com/2016/08/episode-39-81866.html

Then & Now

John: Sam must be drunk at the start of the episode, as he suggests one of his painting is worth a few hundred dollars. Of course with Burke trying to throw $1500 at him for a portrait, which is almost equivalent to $15,000 today, one might think Sam would just shut up and dance.

I don't recall Adam having as nasty a scar as Roger has in this episode!

What good is it for Bill to clear Burke's name after he's already served jail time for a crime he didn't commit?

Christine: Right. It's only useful if it leads to identifying the person who did the crime and should have done the time.

That scar is pretty bad, but Adam had even more of whatever Roger has going on. It looks like Dr. Reeves was making tally marks on his head. My feeling from ten years ago remains the same: Put the bandage back on!

Elizabeth seemed elated to finally get a call from Ned Calder, while Bill Malloy appeared less than thrilled. Jealous, perhaps? Also, is this the first time we've seen Liz smile on the show? I hardly recognize her.

Shadows on the Wall

John: Roger stuck around Sam's place long enough to fix himself a drink.

Christine: Sam's rotgut doesn't appear to live up to Roger's refined standards of brandy. Does this qualify as a Roger's Spirits entry, or are we going to need a separate page for Sam's liquor bottle?

John: How long will it take for Roger to realize that Maggie is the only one Sam would have given his letter to?

Is that a Thinker statue on the bookshelf at Sam's place?

Christine: It appears to be similar, though I'm not sure if it's an exact replica. There are a few other interesting statues on the shelf below the window, too.

What did you notice this time that you had never noticed before?
