Vicki comes downstairs when Jeff comes in carrying Liz. He tells her he found her in the graveyard, and that she fainted. Vicki says she has no pulse or heartbeat—that she's dead! Jeff tells Vicki to take it easy, saying Liz can't be dead. He puts his hand on Liz' chest and says she's breathing. Vicki picks up a phone to call a doctor.

Barnabas examines a syringe, and says that he'll have no trouble using it to kill Eve. They discuss Nicholas' power, and Julia says if he finds Barnabas in his house, he may destroy him. She says it could even be a trap. She says he may know every move they are going to make. Barnabas asks how, and she says that nothing would surprise her.

Barnabas asks for her assurance that it will appear like death from natural causes, and Julia says it will appear to be a heart attack. Barnabas says he will go tomorrow once he has the plans to Blair's house from Stokes. Julia offers to go with him, and he reminds her that Stokes will bring Blair to the old house, and they need to keep him there while he takes care of Eve. She asks if Adam will leave Eve alone, and Barnabas says he will worry about Adam later.

Vicki wonders what is taking the doctor so long. Julia and Barnabas enter, and Vicki tells Julia to check on Liz. Vicki says she felt no pulse. Julia confirms that she has no pulse or heartbeat. Vicki asks if she's dead, and Julia confirms it. Liz opens her eyes, sits up, and screams, "No!"

She says she was right and she can't stay in the house. She says they were all convinced she was dead. She adds that she heard Julia say that she was dead, just as she feared. Julia offers her a sedative. Julia and Barnabas take Liz upstairs, and Vicki thanks Jeff for finding her. Jeff apologizes for being an idiot, and tries to convince her that he's worth giving another chance. There's a knock at the door, and she leaves to get it without responding to him.

Barnabas asks if Liz will be alright. Julia says Liz has changed significantly since she first came to Collinwood. She says Liz is tortured by the presence of death. She can somehow see death. Barnabas says that it all started the day Cassandra disappeared. He asks if Blair would want to bring Cassandra back.

Jeff waits downstairs until Vicki comes down. He tells her that she didn't answer his question. In no time at all they're kissing again, and he assures her that she won't be sorry. Barnabas comes downstairs to see them embracing. He turns and leaves without speaking to them.

Julia is in her room reading when Vicki stops by to see her. She asks if Liz was in a catatonic state, and whether it could happen again. Julia says she expects that it will. Vicki asks how long they would have to wait to determine if she's dead? She wants to be sure that they don't bury her alive. Julia tells her she was surprised to see Jeff, and asks if they're back together. Vicki says they are, and Julia tells her that she's very happy for her.

Julia gets into bed and falls asleep. Several hours later, she has a dream. She hears Barnabas ask about Eve's death appearing to be natural, and her telling him that she thinks it's a mistake to go to Blair's house. She hears screams, followed by Barnabas asking her to come to him, saying he needs her. He begs her to come to her in the woods. He says she was right, and it was a mistake; that he never should have gone to Blair's house. She watches him die, and then wakes up screaming his name.

Our thoughts

John: Rather forward of Jeff to put his hand on Liz' chest... even if he did think she might be dead.

Christine: I thought so, also. Especially since it was quite apparent she was still breathing by the way her chest was heaving.

John: The great Dr. Hoffman has done it again! Calling the time of death right before someone sits up, proving that they are in fact still alive.

Christine: Do Barnabas and Julia have collective amnesia that's allowed them to forget Barnabas' dexterity with poison filled hypodermic needles? They were both acting like he'd never used one before, when it's been exactly one year and a day since she provided him with the syringe he used to kill her friend, Dr. Dave Woodard. So much has happened in a year!

John: Shouldn't someone have found Roger to tell him that they found his sister, and she's not dead? You'd think he'd welcome the interruption, even if it was his day off...

Christine: So, Vicki is back to locking lips with Jeff Clark, much to the disappointment of everyone. I can understand why Barnabas ran from the room. Will Barnabas be the next person to die and immediately return to life on the show?
