Julia comes downstairs and tells Barnabas she needs to go see Maggie Evans, who has been meeting with Nicholas Blair about buying a painting. Barnabas asks her if she still thinks Blair made Tom Jennings the vampire. She says that while he's not a vampire, she thinks he is involved, and she must find out what it is. She tells him they must find the vampire and destroy him.

Julia comes to see Maggie, and she's disappointed that he's not Joe. She says he hasn't been to work in days and isn't answering his phone. Maggie asks Julia why she came, and she says she just wanted to check on her. Julia asks her about Blair's interest in her father's art. Maggie says he must be wealthy and generous, offering her so much more than her father's painting is worth. Julia asks why he'd want to be so charitable to her. Maggie says they barely know each other, but he's gone out of his way to be kind to her. Julia suggests he might be attracted to her, and Maggie dismisses the notion.

Julia leaves, and Joe appears, saying he came in through the back way before passing out.

Joe comes to, and Maggie goes to call the doctor. He stops her, saying he's not sick, just weak. She tells him she's worried about him, and he says he doesn't want to be put back in the hospital. He snaps at her, and she tells him that she's tired of being stood up. He tells her that he had important business to tend to, seeing someone, but he can't tell her who. She tells him he isn't behaving like he loves her, and he tries to convince her otherwise. They kiss, and he assures her that he loves her. He asks to spend the night with her, and requests that she not let him leave, even if he wants to. She agrees.

Julia returns to the old house, and she tells Barnabas that Maggie doesn't know any more about Blair. She does say that she knows his house will be empty at 5 o'clock, as he's meeting with Maggie. Barnabas says they will search his house while he's away.

Joe stares out the window in a daze. He reminds Maggie to lock the front door, and then decides they need to leave Collinwood now, forever.

She says they can't just leave, and she has an appointment with Nicholas Blair. Joe says they have to get away, and then he hears dogs howling. He reverts to a trance-like state.

He tells Maggie that no one can help him. He says he has to leave. She reminds him that he told her not to let him leave. He says he has to, and tells her to get out of his way. He throws her aside and leaves.

Joe arrives at Blair's house, and makes his way to the basement where Angelique's coffin is hidden.

Barnabas and Julia arrive at Blair's, and walk right in. Julia tells him that it's not safe, and that Blair might still be in the house. He tells her to wait outside and he'll search the house on his own.

Barnabas clumsily pokes around, knocking something off a desk. Joe enters and asks what Barnabas is doing there. Barnabas asks the same. They both say they came to see Blair. Joe says he came to tell him to stay away from Maggie. Barnabas tells Joe to go home, and he tells Barnabas that he should leave. Barnabas asks why Joe is so nervous, and why he keeps looking out the window. Joe implores Barnabas to leave immediately.

In the basement, Angelique rises from her coffin.

Our thoughts

John: So how exactly does Julia suddenly have the 411 on Maggie Evans? Has she been reading scripts in her spare time?

Christine: What sort of vampire evidence does Barnabas hope to find by searching the tiny drawers in Blair's desk? A pair of fangs perhaps?

John: So Joe hasn't been heard from in days, and Maggie just sits home and worries about it?

Christine: The last time he saw her, he yelled at her and then ditched her, so she has reason to believe he's blowing off their dates because he's mad at her. She may also be busy thinking about how she'll spend that $2000 she's going to get from Blair for her pop's bloody Dead Marlin painting. Since she doesn't seem to be waitressing any more, she surely needs the cash.

John: I love how Julia warns Maggie about unwarranted interest from relative strangers like Blair, when that's exactly what she seems to be doing.

Christine: Julia's not quite the stranger that Blair is. She was her doctor for some time before hypnotizing her to forget that Barnabas kidnapped her. I love the shot of Barnabas and Julia breaking into Blair's house. Perennial partners in crime.
