Liz asks Vicki about the luggage in the foyer, and she says it's Roger's, but he's not home. She says the painting has been returned, but there's no sign of Roger. Vicki says that even Mrs. Johnson confirmed that the painting was not there last night when she turned out the lights.

Barnabas says that he too does not understand Roger's behavior. He suggests that Liz go upstairs to rest. Vicki asks Barnabas why strange things keep happening. He tells her that she must dispose of the portrait. He asks her to trust him. He says he's convinced the portrait has something to do with Roger's behavior. He says it has a very special meaning to him. He tells Vicki that he and Julia saw Roger last night at Dr. Lang's. He says Julia tried to drive him home, but he jumped out of the car and disappeared. Barnabas tells her they must get rid of the painting.

Vicki says that Angelique was a witch, but she died over 150 years ago. Barnabas questions whether witches ever die, and suggests she may still have powers. Vicki says she'll call Professor Stokes to come and get it. Liz comes downstairs right before Roger returns home.

He asks Vicki to get Mrs. Johnson to bring in champagne. He says they have much to celebrate as he brings in his wife, who has an uncanny resemblance to the portrait of Angelique.

Roger introduces Cassandra to his sister. He then introduces her to Barnabas and Vicki. Cassandra says she can't wait to meet David. Cassandra explains they were married in Rockport at the City Hall. She then asks Barnabas if something is wrong, and he excuses himself.

Cassandra says they will be leaving immediately for a honeymoon in the West Indies, in Martinique. Barnabas asks her if she's been there before, and she says no. Roger describes an evening with Barnabas like reading a history book; and Barnabas adds that he hopes he's more interesting than that. Liz explains that there is business to attend to before they leave on their honeymoon, and they leave Barnabas alone with Cassandra. He asks her if she's ever been to Collinwood before, and she says she has not. She says living in a house like this is almost too good to be true. Barnabas adds that it's almost too incredible to believe.

Liz demands an explanation from Roger. She reminds him that he's still legally married. He tells her that he loves Cassandra. Roger explains that they only just met, but he feels as if they have known each other forever. She asks if he thought of David, and he says he needs a mother. He says she was very rude to his wife. She says his behavior recently has been irrational. He says if she proceeds like this, he will leave the house and never return.

Cassandra tells Barnabas that she wishes Roger wasn't in such a rush to go on a honeymoon. She then spots the portrait of Barnabas and thinks it's of him. He explains it's an ancestor, and he excuses himself, telling her they'll see each other again soon.

He leaves as Vicki returns with champagne. She says that she has so much to learn. She says that only yesterday, she was at Professor Stokes house, when Vicki interrupts her to ask if that's where they met. She says she just transferred to the college. She asks Vicki why she's looking at her so closely, and she apologizes. Vicki offers to show her pictures of Daniel. She asks if he looks like Roger, and Vicki says he's the spitting image of his ancestor, but she wouldn't know that. Cassandra asks her to check in on Roger when she returns with a photo of David. After Vicki leaves, she admires the portrait of Angelique on display in the drawing room. She then begins to laugh like Angelique.

Our thoughts

John: Bad wig alert! Well, Angelique appears to be back, in the form of Cassandra Collins. Along with everyone in the family, I was interested in hearing how they decided to get married after knowing each other for less than a day.

Christine: Can't wait for David to meet his new mommy!

John: I was a little disappointed that Barnabas didn't flat out call Cassandra Angelique. He hinted around the things that Angelique would know, and while he obviously wouldn't accuse her of being the reincarnated witch in front of his relatives, I'm surprised he didn't do it the moment he had her alone.

Christine: Perhaps he didn't want to risk having anyone overhear them.

John: Okay, with all of the emphasis on Vicki's painting these past several episodes, how is it that no one, including Cassandra, managed to point out her resemblance to the portrait? I guess we'll have to leave that up to Professor Stokes. Things are certainly going to be heating up in Collinwood!

Christine: I think no one mentioned it because it is such a poor representation. It was easy to see why when the portrait dissolved to Cassandra's face. Her mouth was painted far too low and too wide on her face. Those who are attuned to the presence of the portraits on the show may have noticed the obvious focus on the portraits in the Collinwood drawing room at the beginning of today's episode. It seemed to draw attention to how out of place Angelique's portrait is at Collinwood. Her portrait really belongs at the Old House.

We wouldn't have made it past 100 episodes if it wasn't captivating... I'm pleased to say that 870+ episodes in, it still is!
