Dark Shadows Episode 1045 6/26/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com!

As he looks for Quentin in Collinwood, Will says he must be careful, because Maggie says he's gone mad. He thinks Quentin will know he wants to help him. He then wonders if Angelique has somehow changed Quentin. He searches the tower room in the West Wing, and finds a tie. He hears footsteps, and the door begins to open. It's Angelexis. She asks him why he's there, and he says he could ask her the same question. She tells him that she lives in the house. He tries to leave, but she closes the door. She tells him he should have known they would have a private meeting sooner or later. He calls her Alexis, and she says he knows her name. He says she's made a mistake. She says Barnabas made the mistake, not knowing how much they were always drawn to one another. She asks him if he remembers. She tells him that she's his Angelique. He says Angelique is dead. She caresses his face, and asks if he remembers all the nights they spent together. He'd read to her by the fire, and tell her that she was his inspiration. She kisses him.

Barnabas says they won't accomplish anything with the body until tomorrow. Julia says Angelique keeps asking her questions, but she'll come as soon as she can tomorrow. He feels something, and senses Will is afraid. He says he must help him, but she reminds him it's almost dawn. He says she can't help Will without giving up her secret. She says she'll find a way. He reminds her Angelique is dangerous.

Angelique tells Will he never could resist her. She says they're all alone, just the way they always wanted it. He breaks away from her, and she says something or someone has changed him. She tells him she wants the truth. She demands that he look at her.

She asks if he knows the truth about her, and he says he does. She asks if Barnabas told him. He promises no one will ever know her secret. She says she wants more from him than just a promise. He screams at her to leave him alone. She demands that he tell her the secret of Barnabas Collins.

He says Barnabas doesn't have any secrets. She says she knows he's cursed, and she wants to know about his powers. Will tries to avoid looking into her eyes. She commands him. He says he'll never do it. He tells her that she's evil and he hates the sight of her.

She wants to know what kind of power Barnabas has over him. She tells him he's Barnabas' slave. She tries to convince him how his life could be better with her. He threatens to jump out of a window. He says he won't betray Barnabas. Julia walks in on them and Will falls out the window to the ground below.

Angelique yells at Julia, saying she made him do it, and ruined everything. She asks why she came into the room. Julia said she thought she might be in danger. She asks how she knew she was there. Julia says she heard voices. Angelique runs outside to check on Will.

Angelique and Julia examine Will. Julia says his spinal cord was severed on impact, and he died instantly. Angelique asks her if she has a medical degree. She wants to know how she died. Julia says she had previous experience seeing someone who had died similarly, and that's what the doctor said. They go inside to tell the others about Will.

Barnabas rises for the night. He goes to check on the body in the secret room, and finds Angelique waiting for him in the foyer. She says she hasn't been there long, but she hasn't been snooping around to find his secrets. She says she came to pay her respects to the widow, but she can't find Carolyn. He asks what she did to Will. She says she is not responsible for his death. She says Will jumped to his death rather than giving up Barnabas' secret. She says she very nearly found out what he is, and she's now determined to find out.

Julia tells Barnabas she arrived too late to save Will. Julia gives the the woman an injection and shock treatments to render Angelique helpless. Barnabas watches as the woman glows. He says it isn't working. She turns off the switch. She says they can try again later. She suggests that Barnabas stay with her, and leaves for Collinwood. Barnabas asks the woman if he was wrong to bring her there. He places his hand on her cheek and her eyes open.

Angelique is coming downstairs at Collinwood when she starts to faint.

Barnabas helps the woman up.

Angelique screams and collapses.

Our thoughts

John: I wasn't expecting Will to be able to withstand Angelique's charms. I'm pretty impressed that he did. And while he was threatening to jump, it sure does seem like Julia's the one to blame for Will's death.

Christine: She and Barnabas were both responsible for his death. If Barnabas and Julia had not decided to remain in parallel time, William H. Loomis may still be alive. Now Carolyn is a widow in both timelines. Way to go, dynamic duo! I really enjoyed John Karlen's anguished performance.

John: I thought for sure we were going to find out that Angelique captured Julia after she let slip her expert opinion on Will's cause of death. But no, she appears to have bought the story about having seen so many dead men fallen from heights, and listen to so many experts weigh in on the cause of death, that she was able to make the instant connection. Yeah, right...

Christine: It seems that all those mistakes are going to add up pretty soon.

John: So when exactly did they install a Frankenstein lab in the old house?

Christine: I was wondering if they went back to their own time while we weren't watching to haul over all their Adam equipment. That was a preposterous setup. I'm not sure I want to endure a flashback to the Adam storyline, or another storyline where Barnabas does dumb things because he's enamored with a woman.

Dark Shadows Episode 1044 6/25/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com!

Barnabas and Will arrive at Stokes' home. Will assures Barnabas that Stokes is at the Eagle, and will be there until closing. Will tells him there's someone else in the room with them. He hears Hoffman's voice, saying she won't let them enter. Will thinks it's her ghost speaking to them. Barnabas thinks she's in the room with them, and Barnabas says it's just her spirit. He offers to help her. He says she cannot rest because her mistress is not at rest. He tells her that she can rest with Angelique if they just let them into the room. They hear her whimpering cries, which fade away. Barnabas asks Will if he still feels the presence, and he says no. Barnabas tells Will to follow him. They go into the room with the woman's body.

Angelexis is sitting by the fire when Amy comes downstairs. She asks where Maggie is, and then says she wants to see Quentin. Angelexis says they're not there. Amy says she saw someone that looked like Quentin creeping into a back window. Angelexis asks why he would do that. Amy says she heard a man by her door. Angelexis says that Quentin isn't there, and neither is Barnabas.

Barnabas lifts the sheet.

Angelexis starts to feel faint. Amy asks her what's wrong. She says nothing is wrong.

Will asks if he's sure this woman is alive. Barnabas asks him to check Stokes' books for any records on her.

Angelexis tells Amy to go back to bed. Amy is worried about her. She tells Amy to go back to bed and runs out of the house. Amy declares that she's not afraid, and walks back upstairs. She hears a door shut. She unlocks a door and enters a room.

Angelique arrives at her father's home. He's not there, but she is shocked to find the woman's body is gone.

Julia tells Barnabas that he should have listened to her. She asks to speak to Barnabas alone, and Will leaves them. Barnabas says he knows she's against it, but it's done now. She tells him it's just beginning. There's a knock at the door. Julia asks who he thinks it is.

Will opens the door to find Angelexis. She asks to see Barnabas. Will says that she doesn't know Barnabas and that one never knows when he's going to be there. Will tells her he thinks he has a girl somewhere, and Angelexis says that's a girl she'd like to meet. He says Barnabas is very secretive.

Julia and Barnabas listen from the basement as Will tries to get rid of Angelexis. She says she assumed he was always at the old house, since they never see him during the day. She asks Will why he's so nervous. She then asks him if it's the day he normally meets her father at the Eagle. He tells her he's trying to turn over a new leaf, and begin writing again. She pulls a book off the shelf near the secret panel. Will momentarily freaks out and tells her that everyone left him alone so that he could work on his new project. She asks him not to tell Barnabas she was there, saying she wants to surprise him.

Barnabas tells Julia that she would be right to say she told him so. Julia says she might as well start work. Barnabas is surprised that she changed her mind. He thanks her.

Amy is searching in the locked room. She thinks Daniel won't believe she was exploring on her own. She hears footsteps, and hides.

Angelique tells Julia she's never around when she needs her. Julia says the body has moved before, and Angelique tells her that she's always felt it before. She asks her to go to her father at the Eagle and bring him back to the cabin. She says she needs to figure out how Barnabas found the body. When Julia says she doesn't think he does, Angelique says she naive, and more trusting than she's ever been before.

Amy continues exploring, opening a door to another room and stepping inside. She finds the Bruno voodoo doll.

Barnabas tells Will that they just need to show Quentin the body in the room to prove that Alexis is Angelique. He adds that they need to find him tonight, and sends Will to go look for him.

Julia tells Angelique that her father was incoherent. Angelique says she must have the girl, or everything could end just like that. She asks what Barnabas' choices are. Julia suggests that someone else might have taken her. Angelique says that he is her enemy, but she can't understand why he hasn't destroyed her already.

Will asks Amy where she got the voodoo doll. She says she got it in the tower room in the west wing. He tells her to go to bed, and she says there's someone upstairs. He offers to take her up to her room.

Barnabas tells Julia she shouldn't have come to see him. Julia says Angelique is certain he has the girl, and she will stop at nothing to destroy him. He says they must both be careful.

Our thoughts

John: Had to laugh when Will suggested Barnabas had a girl somewhere, and Angelique said that's a girl she'd like to meet. Even though it directly applies to today's events, I find it amusing to consider the surface stories they're concocting, first that Barnabas might have a girlfriend stashed away somewhere, and that if he did, Angelique would be interested in meeting her for any other reason than to destroy her.

Christine: Or perhaps she understood that Barnabas' new girlfriend is the one providing her with life force. Here's Barnabas thanking Julia once again for setting him up with a younger woman.

John: It was amusing to hear that Papa Stokes was too drunk to show up today. I'm guessing Julia didn't tell him the body was missing, as I assume that sort of news might be sufficient to sober him up.

Christine: It sounded like he may have been too wasted to hear it even if she did tell him.

John: So what the heck are Barnabas and Julia waiting for? Just starting to revive the woman would be enough to knock out Angelique. Methinks the writers didn't think too hard about what it would mean for them to steal the woman's body.

Christine: Oh, I'm sure they'll find a way of making it so that they can revive the woman and Angelique can still have some sense of self. Remember Adam? Or do you prefer to forget?

Dark Shadows Episode 1043 6/24/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com

Carolyn screams. Julia enters and asks her what happened. Carolyn tells her that she knows who murdered Angelique. Julia asks who it was. Carolyn tells her not to ask. Julia says she must know. Carolyn tries to leave the room. She tells Julia that she was wrong, and she doesn't know why she said it. She says it was just a dream, and didn't mean anything. Julia says that sometimes they do, and asks her again. Carolyn says she doesn't want to discuss it and runs upstairs.

Barnabas arrives at the old house, and Julia asks him if Carolyn loves her husband. She says she said she knows who Angelique's murderer is, but she won't say, obviously protecting someone. Julia assumes it's Will. Barnabas calls to Will, and tells Julia that he has powers over him and will find out the truth. Will comes upstairs, and Barnabas sends Julia to get Carolyn. Barnabas asks Will if he ever considered writing a murder mystery, and Will says he doesn't have that kind of mind. Barnabas asks Will if he hated Angelique, suggesting she flirted with him before running back to Quentin. Will says he liked looking at her too much to kill her. Barnabas realizes that Will can't lie to him, and sends him away.

Carolyn comes downstairs as Will leaves. Barnabas says he wants to hear about her dream, and she says it's none of his business. He asks her who she thinks murdered Angelique, and demands that she look into his eyes. She does, and he asks if she's going to force him to use his powers. He demands to know, and she says it was her mother.

Barnabas finds it difficult to believe, and has Carolyn sit down and explain herself. Carolyn says she remembered kneeling by the body. She says she picked up a piece of jade as she stood up, and realized it was a piece of her mother's hatpin. She says she didn't know at the time that Angelique was killed with a hatpin. Barnabas asks her why she thinks her mother did it, and Carolyn says that she hated Angelique. Barnabas says that someone could have taken the hatpin from Elizabeth. Unless there's something else Carolyn hasn't told him. She says that Angelique was running Will's life, and she had told her mother that she was leaving Will. She doesn't want to believe that her mother would have killed Angelique because of that. Carolyn tells him that she'll deny ever saying her mother is responsible. If anything, she says it's her fault.

Elizabeth is playing solitaire while Will reads. She asks if he heard a knock. She then asks if he has seen Maggie, and adds that Maggie thinks Quentin is in the house. Will says he doubts that. He asks her if that's why she's so jumpy. Elizabeth says Alexis says he's gone mad, and Will suggests that she not put too much faith in Angelique. She asks if she can stay at the old house with them, and he tells her that they have their hands full with Barnabas.

Barnabas reviews those present at the seance who have died: Cyrus, Sabrina and Bruno. Julia doesn't think there's a connection between Sabrina and Bruno. She says that Maggie found a voodoo doll with Bruno's ascot around it's neck. Barnabas says that Angelique put it there. He says when Quentin ran to Bruno's, Angelique went upstairs and used it to kill Bruno. He then thinks about the sleeping girl at Stokes'. He says that when she moves, Angelique reacts. He says they can get to Angelique through her. Julia says they don't know that they can change her condition. He reminds Julia of her work with Adam. He says they'll bring the girl here to find out her secret, and destroy Angelique forever. Julia says if the body goes missing, Angelique will assume Barnabas has it. He assures Julia he's ready to to battle with Angelique. Julia refuses to help him with the girl. He says it would be easier if she helped, but he will do it alone if he has to. He says they will get the girl tonight, and calls to Will.

Barnabas and Will go to the Collins' mausoleum. Will says Stokes is a buddy of his, and doesn't believe what Barnabas has said. He adds that if there was a secret room in the mausoleum, he'd already know about it. Barnabas leads him inside and opens the secret door. They see the room is full of furniture. Barnabas finds a drawing of the woman at Stokes' home. It's signed by Claude North. Barnabas asks Will if this is where she lived before; that they must find out. He says the room was his refuge for him forover a century in his own time. He assume now it as a sanctuary for someone connected to her.

Elizabeth asks Carolyn to go to an antique store tomorrow to sell her hat pins. Carolyn seems upset, and Elizabeth asks her why. Carolyn asks her mother about Angelique's murder at the seance. Elizabeth says that she doesn't want to discuss it, and asks her again to take the hatpins into Portland. Carolyn agrees.

Barnabas and Will arrive at Stokes' home. Will assures Barnabas that Stokes is at the Eagle, and will be there until closing. Will tells him there's someone else in the room with them. He hears Hoffman's voice, saying she won't let them enter.

Our thoughts

John: Wow. At the end of yesterday's episode, I thought wouldn't it be funny for it to play out like Twin Peaks, and when Carolyn goes to tell Julia who did it—she says she forgot. I guess we now know one possible soap opera source that David Lynch and Mark Frost could have drawn that from!

Christine: So, should we assume that Claude North is the artistic milk drinker who likes to hang out in the secret room in the mausoleum and sketch pretty young girls who become life force providers? I feel like I'm getting parallel time fatigue. I miss our original characters and can't understand why Barnabas cares more about what's happening in parallel time than his own time. He has his own Angelique to fight at home. Is he so obsessed with her that he needs to vanquish every incarnation of her there is?

John: Wasn't it obvious that Elizabeth was the culprit when Carolyn said yesterday that she was the first to go to Angelique after Quentin? Now, she may not be the murderer, but that was certainly what they wanted us to think.

Christine: It's what they wanted us to think that Carolyn would think, which means it's definitely not Elizabeth. I think the real culprit is whoever is not acting obviously nervous whenever the séance is mentioned, which now rules out Roger for me. My money is on Trask. He's as shifty as all of his counterparts.

John: Was that Petofi's hand-box now serving as a hatpin box?

Christine: It certainly is the famous Petofi box that was seen as early as Episode 18 on a table outside Vicki's room. I sense another collection that needs to be compiled.
