Dark Shadows Episode 1057 7/14/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com

Stokes is smoking and drinking when Barnabas arrives to see him. Stokes says Barnabas is determined to enjoy his cheap triumph to the fullest. He says the police told him his daughter is dead. Barnabas says she was dead a year ago.

Stokes says she'll live again, so he can leave. Barnabas tells Stokes that the inspector is coming to see him about the murder he committed tonight. Stokes asks whose murder he's talking about, and Barnabas tells him that he knows full well that Claude North is dead. Stokes says that it's ridiculous to think he would have killed North. Barnabas says he needed Roxanne more than anyone else. He says he didn't come there to prove he killed North. He says he wants to know where Roxanne is. Stokes says he won't help him, and Barnabas explains that he has ways to make him help.

The inspector arrives, and Stokes says he understands he's going to accuse him of killing Claude North. The inspector says he has Barnabas' story, and he would like to speak to Stokes alone. Barnabas says that if they can find the girl, she can give them the answers that they need.

He leaves, and the inspector asks Stokes if he's aware what Barnabas has told them about his involvement with the goings-on at Collinwood. Stokes says they're maniacal ravings. The inspector says he's investigating deaths. Stokes takes him back into his storeroom and asks if the room looks like the one Barnabas described to him. The inspector says Stokes must admit his daughter died in a mysterious fashion. Stokes says she had a heart condition. The inspector says that will show up in the autopsy. Stokes forbids it, and demands that her body be returned to him immediately. The inspector says the body will be returned at the proper time. Stokes tells him he'll cooperate in any way he can.

Barnabas reviews plans of Collinwood for other examples of other secret passages or rooms where Julia might be.

Julia tries to stay awake in her cell. She keeps moving. She hears something, and thinks it might be Angelique to torment her. She wonders why Barnabas isn't looking for her. She calls to him.

Barnabas explains to the inspector that an autopsy would prove that the dead woman is Angelique, by her original cause of death, and that's why Stokes would be against it. He says if he gets the body back, he'll just bring her back to life again. Barnabas says they must find Roxanne or Julia. He says Julia can testify that Angelique killed Bruno with a voodoo doll.

Roxanne gets out of a bed. She hears footsteps, and Stokes comes in looking for her. He says he won't hurt her. He says he's there to warn her the police are looking for her.

She comes out. She asks what the police want. He says they want to question her. She says she was forced by he and Claude. He says that she agreed freely, and for that reason she should stay hidden for a while. He says he'll bring her what she wants. She says Claude will do that, and he tells her that Claude is dead—stabbed in the back. She assumes he did it, but he says Barnabas did it. She doesn't believe him. He says that Claude told him about the oath she took, in case anything happened to him. She says she didn't. Stokes makes her look at him. He asks if she remembers taking the oath, and she says she does. He says Barnabas killed Claude, and asks her what she's going to do about it.

Barnabas is on the phone with the inspector, and asks him to let him know as soon as he hears the autopsy results. The inspector says it would help if they found Roxanne or Julia, and Barnabas says he's going to check the basement. The inspector offers to help, and Barnabas agrees. He goes upstairs, and Roxanne comes into Collinwood, dagger in hand.

Barnabas is going through the plans when Roxanne comes in. She asks why he killed Claude. He says he didn't. He tells her that Stokes did. She says she doesn't believe him. She says he killed Claude, and he must die. Barnabas recognizes the dagger from the mausoleum. Roxanne says she made a vow to kill anyone who harmed Claude. He says that he's dead now, and she's no longer under his control. She raises the dagger, but drops it. Barnabas tells her that it's all right. She asks if she's really free, and he assures her that she is. She says she's lost without Claude. She says she can't stay. He says he needs her help. She must tell the police what she knows. She says she can't. She runs out, and Barnabas chases after her.

The inspector asks how Roxanne got away from him, and Barnabas says he doesn't know. The inspector asks if they should go after her, or look for Julia. Barnabas picks Julia, and grabs the basement plans.

Julia tries to stay awake. She lays down on her bed.

Barnabas and the inspector go into the basement. Barnabas calls to Julia.

Julia dreams of Barnabas and Roxanne. He's showing her back to their time band. She asks why he looks sad. He says it's because of Julia. Roxanne says they won't forget her. She asks if he'd rather stay in this time band, and he says no, it would make no difference. They kiss.

Julia stirs, trying to let Barnabas know she's alive. She hears his voice.

Barnabas continues calling for Julia. The inspector says if she were there, she would have heard them. Barnabas begins to doubt that they'll find her. They start back up the stairs.

Julia wakes, and calls out to Barnabas. She pounds on the wall, begging him to find her.

Our thoughts

John: It's taken me some time to realize it, but Papa Stokes' look is almost a precursor (albeit a wimpy version) of Brando's Don Corleone.

Christine: Thayer David is pretty amazing in his range of characters, but it's the little touches that mean so much. I loved the way he passive aggressively blew smoke in Barnabas' face when he entered.

John: I guess now that everyone's basically dead, there's no harm in reviewing the plans of Collinwood to search for secret rooms. Of course it's not clear that he actually reviewed them closely, since they went down to the basement and didn't bother to check in the secret room for Julia. Of course having the inspector along wasn't going to be much help. He seems to be in way over his head, and just when you think he's not falling for all of Barnabas' nonsense, he seems to be fully invested in it.

Christine: You'd think they might at least try the bolted door behind them to see if she's died in one of those rooms. Geez! Utter incompetence! I hope Julia finds a way to rescue herself.

John: I'm a bit surprised that Julia's first concern be that Barnabas might leave her, particularly after dreaming of him locking lips with Roxanne!

Christine: I think that's why it's her first concern. What a nightmare! At least Roxanne has finally changed out of her nightgown. You know, this scenario is making the Leviathans look pretty good.

Dark Shadows Episode 1056 7/13/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com

Angelique hypnotizes Maggie. Angelique tells her to get the gun from the desk drawer, and Maggie does. Angelique tells her to take the gun to Angelique's room and wait for Quentin. She says that when he arrives, she is to shoot him in the heart. She tells her to hurry. Maggie takes the gun and goes upstairs.

Claude tells Roxanne to speak to him. Her lips start to move.

Barnabas tells Angelique that North is going to make Roxanne speak. He says that before she goes, she'll sign a confession clearing Quentin, and she's going to tell him where Julia is.

Maggie stands waiting with the gun in Angelique's room.

Barnabas begs Angelique to sign the confession. She says she came to destroy Quentin, not save him. He says it will give her peace, and she says she doesn't want peace. Barnabas says she only has minutes... or seconds... She says the same is true for Quentin.

Quentin walks in the door to Angelique's room, where he finds Maggie inside pointing a gun at him. He tells her no.

Claude tells Roxanne she will speak, and she says, "I can speak."

Angelique screams and falls to the ground.

Maggie screams and falls to the ground.

Barnabas checks Angelique for a pulse. He leaves her dead body on the floor of the drawing room and goes to the foyer to call Inspector Hamilton and tell him Alexis is dead.

He hangs up and Quentin repeats that Alexis is dead from the top of the stairs. Barnabas tells him to come down so he can hear the whole story. Quentin does, and says that Maggie is responsible. Barnabas says he's wrong. Quentin says she just tried to kill him. He says she was in Angelique's room pointing a gun at him, and Barnabas adds that at the last minute, she fell to the floor unconscious. Quentin asks how he knew. Barnabas says that was Angelique's last act. He says Maggie was under Angelique's spell. He leads Quentin into the the drawing room. He tells Quentin that the body is not Alexis, but Angelique.

Quentin asks how someone can bring the dead back to life. Barnabas says Angelique's father brought her back with the life force of a woman named Roxanne. Quentin says he saw Angelique's body. Barnabas reminds him that it was perfectly preserved. Quentin adds that he burned it, and Barnabas explains that he did so after she changed places with Alexis. Quentin asks if he destroyed Alexis, and Barnabas confirms it. Barnabas says Angelique killed Bruno as well, but refused to sign a confession. Quentin says he has no way of proving he didn't kill Bruno. Barnabas says they can prove it if they find Julia. He sends Quentin upstairs to tend to Maggie, while he waits for the inspector.

The inspector asks Barnabas what caused Angelique's death. Barnabas tells him to sit down, and he'll tell him the whole story.

Claude tells Roxanne to come with him, but she says she's too weak. He says he's waited too long already. He says he regrets making the deal with Stokes. She refuses. He suggests that she's not too weak—it's because she doesn't want to go. She tells him that he'll be back. Claude realizes she means Barnabas. She says he was kind to her, and he wants to know her as she really is. Claude tells her that he loves her, and she says she loves him. He says she doesn't even know him. He says he won't surrender her. He says she's coming with him, and commands her to look at him. He says she will forget Barnabas Collins.

Barnabas tells the inspector that North got Roxanne to speak. The inspector then follows saying that then Angelique suddenly died. He tells Barnabas the story is preposterous. Barnabas says that it's true. The inspector says the search for Quentin will go on. Barnabas offers to take him to see Roxanne and question her. He says he's going to call the station first. Angelique's dead body remains on the floor.

Claude leads Roxanne through the woods. They hide in the shadows as Barnabas and the inspector pass.

Barnabas leads the inspector downstairs into the lab in the basement. It's empty. He asks where the woman is. Barnabas says he must have taken her away. He asks why he would lie, or have all of the equipment. The inspector says he's sticking with reality, which still appears to be the guilt of Quentin.

Quentin sits with Maggie. She slowly comes to, and he tells her not to be frightened. She tells him she knows the truth, and they hug one another. She says she thought he killed Angelique until she found out that Roger had killed her. And Carolyn. And Elizabeth. Quentin is shocked. He says Roger must have been insane. She says the police won't blame him. He says there's still Bruno. She promises him that they'll find a way to prove his innocence. They profess their love for one another and kiss.

She says she can accept things now that she couldn't before. She says she wanted to emulate his first wife, and she knows he'll love another like he loved her. He tells Maggie that he hated Angelique. He said they never had a happy day. He says she was unfaithful, and fond of bragging about it. He wanted to be free of her, and she promised him that he never would be. He says he wasn't sure if he killed her of not on the night of the seance—but he was glad she was dead. When he met Maggie, she was everything he ever wanted in a woman. She tells him that they'll start again.

The inspector walks in on them, and tells him he's taking him into custody, and he won't escape this time.

Barnabas tells Maggie that he hasn't found Julia anywhere. Maggie asks if she might be dead. He says he thinks she's still alive, it's just a question of where. She asks about Roxanne, and he says he's going to check Stokes house. He says they have to find a way to clear Quentin. Maggie thanks him for everything.

Barnabas searches the woods and finds Claude North dead, stabbed with his own dagger. He wonders if Roxanne is dead, too.

Our thoughts

John: Well, it didn't take a mind reader to figure out that Angelique's death would likely end the spell on Maggie. Though I didn't quite expect Barnabas to tell the inspector the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Do you think he tried to explain parallel time to him, too? I'm surprised the inspector didn't lock Barnabas up as well! Do you think anyone knows that Roger is dead, too?

Christine: That's a good question. Maggie and Quentin should have been tripping over Roger's corpse in Angelique's room. She didn't seem well enough to move his body. Perhaps the room changed and transported his corpse to the other time band.

John: So about this whole Claude/Roxanne McGuffin... I was really hoping we'd get an answer to why she would even consider going back to the man who sold her out to someone for her life force. It sure seems like an odd thing to do with a woman you claim to love. Of course, is that any less ridiculous than her falling in love with Barnabas? I guess not.

Christine: This is too much! Well, since we don't have many characters left alive in parallel time, I'm guessing Stokes is the one responsible for planting the dagger in North's back, and he now has Roxanne, who's been wearing the same blue nightgown for who knows how long. Perhaps he's going to attempt to resurrect Angelique.

John: It's certainly worth noting that Barnabas chose to look for Roxanne rather than continue the search for Julia... the one who could more likely help Quentin. If that's not the ultimate slap in the face, I don't know what is. Something tells me that once reunited, Julia will still be pining for her vampire beau.

Christine: I really hate when the writers make Barnabas act like such an idiot. Julia's a goner.

Dark Shadows Episode 1048 7/1/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com!

Julia arrives at the Loomis house. Barnabas tells her he put Roxanne back in the secret room. He says they need to find Claude North, who may be the secret to killing Angelique. She asks if that was the name on the drawing. He says that he found Roxanne in the graveyard at North's tombstone. Julia suggests that if he's dead, they won't find him. Barnabas says the sketch isn't 100 years old. He doesn't understand the connection, but he knows he's very important.

There's a knock at the door. Julia hides, and inspector Hamilton comes in. He tells Barnabas that he has some questions about Will's death. He asks if Carolyn is home. Barnabas says she's resting. Carolyn comes downstairs with a glass of brandy in her hand. Barnabas tells her she should be resting. Hamilton says he'll try to be brief. She pours herself another brandy, and reminds Barnabas that he's her cousin, not her keeper. Hamilton asks if she's satisfied that Will took his own life. Barnabas interjects, asking if he has reason to believe otherwise, and Hamilton asks him to let Carolyn answer. She says that all she knows is Will jumped from the Tower room. He asks if he might have been pushed. Carolyn says that anything is possible, and Collinwood has a skeleton in every closet.

Hamilton asks if there could be any connection between Will and Bruno's deaths. Barnabas asks if the inspector believes Will didn't take his own life. Hamilton asks Barnabas if he was in Collinwood when the first Mrs. Collins died. Barnabas says he arrived after. Hamilton says he has a list of all attendees, and he's looking forward to speaking to Julia Hoffman. He says she's an old friend that he met when she worked for the Richardsons. Julia hears this from within the secret room. Hamilton asks Carolyn about Will's relationship with the first Mrs. Collins. Carolyn says that's his last question and storms off.

Hamilton leaves, and Julia comes out and asks Barnabas what she can do. Carolyn laughs, saying all the pretending and lies are getting sticky. Julia says she'll have to go back and try to bluff her way through it. Barnabas tells her to be careful. She leaves, and Barnabas tells Carolyn that if she keeps drinking, she's going to say the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Hamilton asks Julia if she participated in the seance, and she says she wasn't. He asks where she was when she heard Angelique's scream. She says she doesn't remember, and he says that's not like her. She then says she was in the servants quarters. He asks what she did next, and she says she rushed into the room. He asks her what she saw, and she says she saw Angelique lying on the ground, and Dr. Longworth was examining her. Shortly after, he pronounced her dead. Hamilton asks if she arrived in time to see Quentin with his hands around his wife's neck. She says she did not.

He tells her he has no further questions, and adds that it's good to see her again. He asks if she ever sees the Richardsons, and she says she does not. He says they were so fond of her, and never knew why she left. He says he and his wife shared their view. He says she was also especially considerate of Jane. Julia asks who, and he says his wife. Julia asks how she is, and he is shocked. He tells her that she knows very well than his wife has been dead for three years. He reminds her that she attended the funeral. Julia says he was talking about the Richardsons, and her mind slipped into the past. He asks her if she's been mistreated at Collinwood. He says he missed the familiar greeting she always gave him, and asks if she's forgotten that too. When she says that of course she hasn't, he asks her to greet him with it now, but she is unable. He says she must be under a strain, and thanks her for her time. She leaves.

Roger tells Angelexis he is upset that the inspector has questioned everyone in the house. She wonders why he hasn't questioned her, and he says she wasn't present at the seance. She asks if he knows more than they think he does. She says there might be some interesting development with the case.

Barnabas is sitting by the fire when Julia returns. She says her meeting with Hamilton was a disaster. she says she's afraid he's got her. Barnabas asks how he could have figured out that she's a Julia Hoffman from another time. She says he can't know that, but he must know she's not the Julia he once knew. Barnabas assures her that she's in no danger as long as he doesn't question anyone else.

The inspector stops into Angelexis' room. He says she's the most important reason she's there. He tells her that he wants the absolute truth from her. He says that she's in trouble, and they may have to hold her as an accessory to murder. She asks what he's talking about. He says if she pretends not to know, she'll make things difficult. He says that he got a court order to exhume Angelique's crypt. When they did, there was no body there; not even a coffin. He thought that someone might be trying to keep something from him.

He says he then looked at Dr. Longworth's journal. It mentioned that Angelique's body was destroyed. He says it also mentioned her and Quentin, and therefore he assumes the three of them destroyed the body. She says that Cyrus and Quentin burned the coffin two months ago. She says there is something he doesn't know. She says they opened the coffin and despite her being dead for six months, her body was perfectly preserved. She says that her sister had dabbled in the occult, and had pledged to return from the dead. Hamilton dismisses superstition and says that Quentin destroyed her body out of fear that an autopsy would reveal him as her murderer. She says she knows that's not true.

He asks her where Quentin is now, and she says she doesn't know. He asks where the remains are buried. She says they're somewhere in the woods. He tells her not to leave Collinsport, and then asks her about Julia. He asks if she's been ill. She asks why, and he says her behavior is peculiar. He mentions how she asked about his wife, despite having attended her funeral three years earlier. He says she's not like the Julia Hoffman he knows. He bids her goodnight.

Carolyn finds Roger in the drawing room in the morning. She pours herself a drink, and he asks if she knows what time it is. He tells her that her behavior is shocking. She says the house is full of shocking behavior. Killing each other is okay, but drinking in the morning is shocking. She says drinking is the only way she can bear with terrible secrets. He asks her what secrets, and she says he'd like to know. She says that she'll tell him the biggest secret of all. She says it concerns someone he loves very much. She says she can prove that Alexis is really Angelique.

Someone standing outside the drawing room hears her say this.

Our thoughts

John: What a stroke of luck that the investigator of Will's death is an old chum of Julia's! Now, it would be one thing if Julia just needed to fool an old acquaintance, but a police inspector? Perhaps she's counting on parallel-time police in Collinwood to be as dumb-witted as they are in her time band.

Christine: It sounds to me like they may have been more than just friends. I was really hoping she was going to come up with some funny greeting to try out on him.

John: Julia almost got away without putting her foot in her mouth. I love how Barnabas is willing to express that he can't imagine how the inspector could have figured out Julia was transplanted from another time band. What's funny is that the only place where I can imagine an inspector reaching that conclusion would be in Collinwood!

Christine: Not good old Inspector Hamilton who wants to hear nothing about Angelique's interest in the occult and refuses to further investigate how her body could have remained perfectly preserved.

John: Hamilton has proof that Angelique was involved in the destruction of her sister's body, but lets that slide? Seriously? I guess he is truly one of Collinsport's finest. But at least he was able to let Angelique know that Julia is not the Julia that he knew. Useless information, unless you have an awareness of parallel-time...

Christine: If Hamilton is the one lurking outside the drawing room who just heard Carolyn say she can prove that Alexis is Angelique, then he may not let her participation slide after all. Julia probably should have snuck into the parallel portal room and disappeared before being questioned, but she definitely should beat a hasty retreat now. Unfortunately, her love for Barnabas will keep her in harm's way in parallel time as long as Barnabas remains. And why are they staying anyway?  It's time for them both to cut and run.

Dark Shadows Episode 1041 6/22/70

You can stream today's episode free on TubiTV.com

Angelexis strangles her Bruno voodoo doll.

Bruno lies on the ground. Quentin applauds. When he doesn't get up, he kneels down and shakes him. Hamilton comes in and says that he hopes for Quentin's sake that Bruno isn't dead. Hamilton checks for a pulse and tells Quentin that Bruno is dead. He asks how it happened.

Quentin says he doesn't understand. Hamilton asks if he found him like this when he arrived. Quentin says he didn't kill him; he suddenly began to choke, and he thought it was an act. Hamilton says that Bruno is dead, and Quentin said he was angry enough to kill him with his own hands earlier. Hamilton arrests Quentin for suspicion of murder. He allows Quentin to call his attorney.

Angelique sneaks into Maggie's room and places the Bruno voodoo doll, with his handkerchief around its neck, in her drawer.

Maggie can't believe the news. Quentin tells her they can't do anything until they know how Bruno died. Angelexis walks in and is shocked to hear Bruno died. Hamilton says he found Quentin standing over his body. She says she doesn't believe Quentin murdered anyone. Quentin asks if he can get some things from his room, and Hamilton agrees, and accompanies him upstairs. Angelexis tells Maggie that she's sorry. Maggie says she wished she knew he had intended to go to the cottage—he was in no state of mind to see Bruno. Angelexis asks if Maggie believes he could have done it. Maggie says it looks bad for Quentin, and doesn't see Angelexis smiling.

Quentin packs a few things, and Hamilton asks if there's anything else he'd like to tell him. Quentin opens a drawer and sees the statue with Bruno's handkerchief around its neck. He closes the drawer and says that if he had anything else to say, he's sure Hamilton wouldn't believe it.

Quentin comes downstairs with Hamilton. He looks at Maggie. She asks what she should tell Daniel, and he says to tell him he's been called away on business. He asks her what she thinks of all this. She says it's all come on so suddenly. He says he wants to think about a lot of things, and leaves with the inspector.

Hamilton asks Quentin if he thinks Maggie thinks he's guilty. He suggests that Hamilton ask her.

Barnabas meets Quentin at the police station, and asks if he can help prove his innocence. Quentin says the inspector has a good case against him. He says when he arrived, Bruno was alive, and when Hamilton arrived, he was dead. Barnabas asks if he has any idea what happened, and Quentin tells him he thinks he found the murder weapon just before leaving Collinwood. He says Bruno was killed by witchcraft. He found a voodoo doll with his scarf around its neck. He says he thinks it was used by someone who knew he would be with Bruno when they did it. He tells Barnabas that it was in Maggie's room, and that they've obviously been wrong about his dear little wife. Barnabas says he can't believe it's Maggie. Quentin says it's the third time he's found something related to witchcraft with Maggie's things. Barnabas assures him that she's not a witch, and that she loves him very much. Barnabas says he wants to see him in the evening tomorrow, and working together they can prove who killed Bruno, and who is trying to wreck his marriage. Hamilton comes in and says he should have the results of Bruno's autopsy within the hour.

Julia says that if they had destroyed the body in Stokes' cottage, Angelique would have died, and Quentin wouldn't be in jail because Bruno would still be alive, stomping her foot for emphasis. He says there's no point going over that now. She says if they destroy the body now, they'll destroy the actual murderer. Barnabas says they must keep Alexis alive in order to prove she's guilty of Bruno's murder.

Angelexis asks Maggie if she's heard from the lawyers. She says she's sure he'll be home by tomorrow. Maggie says she hopes she gets more time. Angelexis says that while they know Quentin has a bad temper, he couldn't kill Angelique. She says they must both have faith in Quentin.

Quentin hangs out in an office at the police station. Hamilton walks in and tells him that Bruno died of strangulation. He charges Quentin with murder in the first degree. He says in view of the new charge, the judge has refused to grant bail. Quentin says he'd still like to talk to his lawyer. Hamilton says he can, but first he needs to let Quentin know that they now believe what was written in Cyrus' journal. They're going to get a court order to have Angelique's body exhumed. Quentin appears troubled, and Hamilton asks if he's afraid what they'll find.

Maggie gets a call from the lawyers. She tells Barnabas that bail was denied, and the charge has been changed to first degree murder. Barnabas asks if she believes he's guilty. He asks if the police have the journal, and she says Alexis gave it to them. He's surprised. Maggie explains that she had bought the original, and Bruno had a copy of the confession. She says that Alexis was trying to protect Quentin. Barnabas assures Maggie that Quentin is innocent, and they can help him if he cooperates with the authorities and doesn't panic.

Angelexis asks if there's anything the lawyers can do. He says they can exhume Angelique's body. He asks what they'll do when they find that there is no body. He says if they find out he and Cyrus destroyed the body, they'll demand to know why. She says he has to get out of jail to prove his innocence. He says he can't. She says there's one other way, and he says escape is absurd. She says that Maggie is being used just as he is. He has to get out to clear his name. She says she'll do everything she can to help him.

Hamilton is on the phone, trying to see how quickly they can get the body exhumed. He hears Alexis scream, and when he goes into the room, Quentin knocks him out.

Our thoughts

John: Barnabas in a fishbowl! Okay, it was a water dispenser, but it's a classic Dark Shadows directorial flourish we've come to expect whenever there's a mirror or magnifying glass on the set.

Christine: I believe water glasses have also been employed. I wonder who played the part of dead Bruno today, since he seemed to be carefully concealed so we could not see that it wasn't actually him. All of Michael Stroka's characters end up being killed off, poor guy.

John: I love how Julia decides this is the perfect opportunity to tell Barnabas, I told you so. Even he seemed willing to admit that they probably would have been better off killing the stranger in Stokes' cottage.

Christine: What are friends for? I love how she punctuated it with a foot stomp.

John: Nice plotting by Angelique. And Quentin has no idea that she's setting him up to get in more trouble at each and every turn. Did he really think that knocking out the inspector and escaping from jail could be remotely considered a wise choice?

Christine: It's a good thing he was allowed to pack a bag before being hauled off to jail, which will come in handy now that he's become a fugitive. I'm not sure how Barnabas expects to prove Angelique was responsible for the murder in order to clear Quentin. Also, is there some reason that Barnabas can not tell Quentin that Alexis is really Angelique, and the one responsible for the witchcraft in the house?
