Dark Shadows Episode 965 3/6/70

Amazon Prime members can stream today's episode free!

Jeb tells them to bury the coffin with Quentin. He tells Quentin that he promised him a surprise, and he keeps his promises. The zombies shovel dirt onto the coffin.

The zombies finish burying Quentin, and Jeb tells them that they can leave. He then says goodbye to Quentin and walks away.

Quentin wakes in the coffin, realizing that he's been buried alive and there's no way out.

Blair returns to the carriage house and finds Julia working in Jeb's room. He asks her what she's doing, and whether she has switched her allegiance from Barnabas to Jeb. He grabs her and pulls her aside, and asks her about her chemistry equipment. She says that Jeb had her brought there, and asked her to help him. Blair figures out what Jeb wants, and he asks Julia if she really thought she could help him. He sweeps her equipment off the desk, sending it crashing to the floor.

Maggie comes to the old house to see Barnabas. He tells her that she should have stayed at Windcliff, where she was safe. She says she had a premonition that Quentin was in danger. He assures her that Quentin is alright, and she says that she has looked for him and can't find him. Barnabas asks what she thinks has happened to him, and she says it was dreadful. The mark on her hand has returned.

Quentin reaches out to Maggie, telling her that he loves her.

Maggie rushes out to find Quentin, and Barnabas chases after her.

Julia asks Blair what he plans to do with her. He says he'll let her go on one condition—that she doesn't interfere with them. She opens the door and Jeb waslks in. He tells her they had an agreement. Blair says it has been cancelled, and tells him to step out of her way. He does, and Julia leaves.

Jeb tells Blair he's getting tired of him, and he's going to destroy the thing that is him in that room. Blair says that if he does, Jeb will cease to exist. He says if he lets Jeb make further decisions, their plan will fail. He says the ceremony must take place tonight. Blair says he can only have Carolyn once they both have reverted to the other form. He tells Jeb to call Carolyn and arrange to get her to the shrine where the ceremony will take place.

Barnabas follows Maggie through the cemetery. She says she can feel Quentin's presence. She arrives at the freshly dug grave, and calls Barnabas over. She says that Quentin is buried alive. Barnabas picks up a shovel and starts digging.

At the carriage house, Carolyn asks Jeb what's wrong. He tells her that he has never met anyone like her, and no one has ever made him feel the way that she does. He tells her that there's a side of him he never wants her to see. He tells her that he loves her, no matter what happens. She tells him that nothing will ever separate them, and she kisses him. She tells him that she loves him, and nothing will ever change that.

Barnabas opens the coffin and they pull Quentin out. They help him stand up, and Maggie asks who did it. He says it was Jeb. They lead him back to Collinwood.

Carolyn and Jeb kiss. She asks him what's disturbing him. He says he can't tell her. He says that he has to do something important, and asks her to wait for him. He leaves.

Maggie and Barnabas bring Quentin into Collinwood. Julia asks what happened, and Maggie says that Jeb tried to kill him. They go upstairs, and Jeb enters. Julia asks what he wants. He tells her that she has to help him now. She says she just found out he tried to kill Quentin. He says he's willing to live and let live if she'll help him. He says that he'll be a changed man if she helps him. He says if it doesn't happen tonight, it will be too late. He sees Barnabas watching from the top of the stairs.

Blair comes in and says hello to Carolyn. She asks what he's doing there, and gives him the cold shoulder. He hypnotizes her with his cigarette case. He opens the door and tells two zombies to take her to the shrine and wait for him.

Maggie looks for Barnabas. Quentin comes in and says he saw the mark on his hand. She shows him hers. He says now he knows how she found him. He tells her that he loves her, and she replies in kind. They kiss.

Blair tells Jeb to place the box on the altar, and to take his place beside Carolyn. Blair begins his incantation while Jeb holds Carolyn's hand. Blair tells Jeb to take the scepter and begin the vows.

Jeb takes the scepter from Blair, and then calls out to Barnabas. Barnabas appears and grabs Carolyn and runs off with her. Jeb takes the scepter and smashes the Leviathan box.

Blair screams at him, and he and Jeb run away from the altar, which begins to crumble. Jeb clutches his abdomen and falls to the ground, writhing in agony.

Our thoughts

John: It's a shame that they could only afford two zombies on today's payroll. At least they kept the one with the ping-pong ball eye.

Christine: It does make him the scariest zombie of the bunch.

John: Thank goodness for Quentin that folks in Collinwood know how to dig graves faster than anywhere else! Sadly, because we knew that factoid, it made his being buried alive far less concerning. And besides, it's not like Quentin is at risk of dying just like any mortal.

Christine: I wonder if Barnabas picked up on Maggie and Quentin's sudden romantic psychic connection, or if he'll recognize the matching tridents on their hands as the same that Josette and Jeremiah shared, to realize Angelique is up to no good again.

John: Who was responsible for the branches that obscured Blair while performing the ritual at the altar? You could barely see his cool glittery outfit. Still, it was quite an exciting conclusion to the week! Have we seen the last of the Leviathans?

Christine: Blair certainly has a flair for magical outfits. With the Leviathan book, box and altar destroyed, it would seem to signal the end of the Leviathans. Will it mean the end of Jeb, or did he just get a tummy ache from something bad he ate? Also, will Diabolos be mad at Blair for failing once again to create an evil super race of beings? Dark Shadows continues to entertain!

Dark Shadows Episode 964 3/5/70

Amazon Prime members can stream today's episode free!

The zombie horde carry Julia's unconscious body downstairs. Roger returns to Collinwood and is confronts them. He demands that they put Julia down, but he is also knocked unconscious. The zombies leave Collinwood with Julia.

Julia awakens in the carriage house. She wonders why they have left her alone there. She goes to the door and finds a zombie guarding it. She goes back inside, and Sky comes in. He tells her that it's nice to see her again. He invites her to ask no questions and enjoy herself. She points out that the men who brought her there are dead. She asks if Blair has such power, and then realizes that Jeb must be the one responsible. Sky assures her that Jeb is there, and nods at a door. She asks if that's his new room, and then if he's going to kill her. He says he won't, provided that she does what he asks.

Quentin returns to Collinwood to find Roger knocked out. Roger tells him that dead men took Julia.

Sky offers Julia a sherry, which she impolitely refuses. She tells him that she'll never reveal the location of Barnabas' coffin, if that's what they're after. She then hears breathing behind the door. Julia asks if Jeb's in his other form. Sky offers to show her what he looks like, and she refuses. Sky tells her that she will go in that room, because Jeb wishes it. She opens the front door, and the zombie is still there.

Sky grabs her and drags her into the room with Jeb, which he closes behind her. She begs to be let out. She sees Jeb in his true form and begs him not to touch her. She then sees him in his human form. Jeb tells her that whether he kills her depends entirely on her.

Quentin tells Roger that Jeb has declared war on them. He says they wouldn't go to the carriage house, and they can try the crypt in the cemetery. Roger says they must be more clever than the Leviathans.

Jeb knocks on the door and Sky opens it. Jeb tells her that she can leave—the room. Jeb asks Sky to go to Collinwood to find out if Megan is back. He asks Julia if she knew Megan was missing. He says he looked for her at the old house. Julia says she'd only be there if he sent her there.

Sky leaves, and Julia asks why he let her into his room. She asks what he wants of her. He says that he knows she's curing Barnabas. He says that she's going to help him. She asks if he has control over the change, and he says that he can't. He says he never wants to be that again; not since he saw the look in Carolyn's eyes when she saw him like that. She asks if they make him go into the room, and he tells her that he wants her to help him be human. She says she doesn't know anything about the change he goes through. He reminds her that she didn't know about vampires originally, either. He just asks her to try. She says she will if he leaves Barnabas alone. Jeb agrees. She tells him to send someone to Collinwood to get her medical kit.

Quentin says he's going to the cemetery, and then the carriage house if they're not there. There's a knock at the door, and Sky arrives to see Elizabeth. Quentin tells Roger that he and Sky have met. He introduces Roger to him, and invites him into the drawing room. Quentin says Sky might enjoy some of their paintings. He asks if he collects weapons. Sky asks if Elizabeth is coming down, and if Mrs. Todd is there when Quentin pulls a sword from the wall and confronts him with it. He says he's sure that Sky would like to see them both. Quentin says that they would like to see Julia, and demands to know where she is.

Sky is backed up to the wall, and says he doesn't know where Julia is. Quentin brings the point of his sword to Sky's throat, and asks if he's going to have to kill him. Sky says she's at the coach house. Quentin doesn't believe it. Sky says they brought her there for a reason. Roger asks what reason, and Quentin asks if Blair's there. Sky says he doesn't know anything about it. Quentin then asks how many are there, and where they are stationed. Sky tells him they're outside each door. Quentin asks what password will get him by them, and Sky says "live" is the only word they respond to.

Quentin gives Roger the sword to watch him, and leaves to go after Julia. Roger forces Skye to sit down. Sky says it's not quite the reception he expected. Roger notices Megan outside the window, fangs bared. Sky makes his move, escaping out the door and locking it behind him. Roger demands that someone open the door.

Sky tells Megan that she can never go back to Collinwood, and she says she doesn't want to. He then says Jeb is angry with her, and she says she'll be alright. He tells her that he must be going, and she asks why. She tells him to look at her. He tells her she's beautiful, and she leans in to bite his neck.

Jeb is in the carriage house when Quentin arrives. Jeb congratulates him on his entrance. Quentin grapples with him and the zombies come in and separate them. Three zombies hold Quentin, and the fourth knocks him out. The drag him into Jeb's room and place him in a coffin. Jeb stands over the coffin and tells the zombies not to grieve, as Quentin is very old, and will soon join them.

The zombies bring the coffin to the cemetery. Jeb tells them to bury him—alive. He tells Quentin that he promised him a surprise, and he keeps his promises. The zombies shovel dirt onto the coffin.

Our thoughts

John: Damn! A fresh zombie bitch slap for Roger! And one for Quentin, too! Those guys are awesome. I'm a little bit disappointed that the zombie crew remains uncredited. As we learned from zombie sheriff Davenport, they could talk if the writers only gave them lines...

Christine: Then Dan Curtis would have to pay them more. He might be able to afford one talking zombie, but not four. I prefer to believe these mute, outstretched arm, garden variety zombies differ from zombie Sheriff Davenport because they weren't killed by the Leviathan monster. I'm just surprised it took four zombies to put a coffin in the ground when it usually only takes one man to do the job. Incidentally, you can find the names of the zombie actors on IMDb.

John: Wait—Jeb is becoming a reluctant Leviathan? Is this just a ploy to trick Julia, or is he really going to follow in the footsteps of Barnabas?

Christine: Oh c'mon! It's getting a bit ridiculous for all the monsters on the show to renounce their true monster form and express a desire to be human! I'm beginning to sense a real prejudice towards supernatural beings on this show. I have to wonder if Julia is trying to trick Jeb into thinking she will try to help him become human, or if she really intends to do it when his human form is as despicable as his Leviathan form. Also, where was she when Quentin was getting subdued by zombies? It's not like the carriage house is a 40 room mansion.

John: Isn't this the second time someone has broken something when removing a decorative sword from the wall in the drawing room? Was Quentin the one who did that in the past? And then Roger can't help but turn to watch as someone offscreen tries to clean up the broken glass. Doesn't Quentin know that there are plenty of loaded guns stashed in the desk drawer? That would have been so much easier (and likely more lethal).

Christine: Quentin has more of a flair for drama that is better expressed by the drawing of a sword than the pointing of a pistol. Aristede was able to pluck a sword off the wall without any trouble in Episode 877, and Quentin pulled one on Barnabas in Episode 703 and 704 without destroying the furnishings, but that's as far as my research went. What fool put a lamp there anyway? Isn't that where the brandy bottle is supposed to be kept? Which begs the question, who took down Joshua's portrait and hung the 1897 swords on the wall in its place? Speaking of portraits, it was nice to see the portrait of Collinsport founder, Isaac Collins, hanging in the drawing room today while Sky was being held at the point of a sword.

Dark Shadows Episode 963 3/4/70

Amazon Prime members can stream today's episode free!

Jeb stands over a number of fresh graves, and asks the occupants to join him. He calls upon them, offering an exchange of five souls for four dead servants. Hands break through the soft earth. One by one, the zombies rise—Thomas, John, Amos, and Emory.

Thomas Findley. B: 1927. D: 1969. Age: 42

John Hart. B: 1932. D: 1970. Age: 38

Amos Ross. B: 1930. D: 1970. Age: 40

Emory Pace. B: 1933. D: 1970. Age: 37?

Jeb commands them to look at him. He explains that he is their leader. He tells them that four men and one woman will join them, four men and one woman. Barnabas, Quentin and Roger Collins, Willie Loomis and Julia Hoffman. He says their graves are to be dug tonight, and they will be in them by tomorrow.

Julia asks Barnabas what's wrong. He says he has a premonition that Jeb is planning something. Julia says if only they hadn't discovered Maggie was working for them. Barnabas says Megan is now working for them. Julia says Megan is fanatic about Jeb. She prepares Barnabas' injections. They don't notice that Jeb and a zombie are outside the window looking in. Julia gives him the injection. Jeb realizes that Julia is helping Barnabas with his affliction.

Megan longs for Barnabas' call.

Jeb arrives at Collinwood and asks Elizabeth to stay with Megan, and ensure no one gets into her room. He adds if Barnabas should come to Megan, she should not be alone with him. He leaves, and Elizabeth finds Megan in the drawing room, whimpering. Elizabeth gets her an afghan to keep her warm. Megan says it's just her nerves.

Barnabas realizes that he shouldn't have told Julia about Megan. He feels that he must have blood. He calls to her.

Elizabeth tells Megan that she must be ill. Megan gets up and says she heard a voice call to her.

Barnabas continues to call Megan, and then stops himself.

Elizabeth tells Megan that it must be her imagination. She asks what she can do for her, and she asks for a glass of water. When Elizabeth steps out, Megan gets up and sneaks out of the house.

Barnabas says he must find blood. He opens the door as Megan arrives at the old house. He tells her to return to Collinwood, and she refuses.  He tells her to go away, but she approaches him.

Eizabeth comes downstairs and can't find Megan. Julia returns and Elizabeth tells her that she disappeared. Julia turns and leaves. Elizabeth remains worried about Megan.

Megan says she won't let Barnabas feed on someone else. She exposes her neck to him, and he leans in for a bite. She collapses as Julia walks in on them. She checks Megan's pulse. Barnabas tells her he didn't do it by choice.

Julia tells him that Megan is dead. Barnabas reminds her of what she will become. Julia says he must deal with it before she rises. He agrees. Julia asks where they can make a stake, and he leads her downstairs.

A zombie stands outside of Collinwood. Inside, Jeb tells Elizabeth that she's stupid. He tells her to go into Megan's room and stay with her. He adds that she doesn't deserve to know his plan. She dutifully heads upstairs.

Barnabas holds a stake, and tells her she can stay downstairs. She says she'll go with him. They return upstairs to find that Megan's body is missing.

Jeb tells the zombies that they know what to do, and commands them to carry out their orders. They all shuffle back into Collinwood. One goes upstairs, followed by the second, and then the third.

Julia and Barnabas arrive at Collinwood. Julia goes inside and heads upstairs, not noticing the zombie in the foyer, who watches her.

Julia goes to her room and turns on a lamp. She sits down at her chemistry set and prepares more serum to inject Barnabas with. She hears a noise outside her door, and when she opens it, she's confronted by a zombie. It follows her into the room, where two more step out of the shadows. One slaps her, and then picks up her unconscious body and carries her out of the room.

Our thoughts

John: Poor zombie Thomas really struggled to get out of the earth... Playing dead is a tough job! It's interesting to note that when Jeb lists off their intended victims, the closed captioning incorrectly refers to 'Willie Collins.'

Christine: It is tough when you're buried with a protective face mask that just won't come off. Poor Amos Ross got yelled at for not falling in line fast enough for zombie roll call. Emory Pace wins for most ungraceful zombie rise.

John: Do you think Barnabas was upset about biting Megan only because Julia caught him doing it? And why would such a brief bite lead to her death? Or not, as the case may be. Since Megan wasn't on the hit-list of the undead that Jeb spelled out for them.

Christine: No, I think Barnabas was truly upset because he did not want to kill Megan and felt powerless to control his bloodlust. I don't think it was the size of the bite, but the fact that he's indulged himself on her blood too frequently. I seem to remember when he was going to make Maggie his vampire bride that the rule was the third bite makes the vampire. It isn't the first time Julia has incorrectly declared someone dead, so there is a possibility Megan is not dead yet.

John: Holy zombie bitch slap, Batman! If nothing else, you would think that Julia might have smelled the dead corpses hiding in her room before they ultimately attacked her.

Christine: Well, she was working with chemicals which could have masked their rotten stench. Julia is in quite a predicament. I wonder how she'll get out of it.
