In a dream, Vicki puts on a veil in Josette's room. Barnabas and Julia enter, and he asks her if she's ready. She says not yet. Barnabas asks Julia to leave, and he speaks to Vicki of being a beautiful bride. She asks where Burke is, and Barnabas leads her to the bed, where a body is covered in a shroud. Barnabas says he's dead, and Vicki says she can never be a bride if he's dead. Vicki says he has to be alive, and runs out of the room.
Carolyn comes downstairs and hears Vicki talking about Burke still being alive. She's asleep in the drawing room, and Carolyn wakes her. She tells her that she's sorry and Vicki asks why. She says Burke is just missing, and will be found. Carolyn agrees, and Vicki says she's lying. She says she has the same look as her mother and Mrs. Johnson. Carolyn tells her not to give up hope. The phone rings and Vicki answers. The search party hasn't found the plane or passengers yet.
Julia comes into Josette's room and walks around. She sits down in front of her mirror and ponders why every woman Barnabas loves must be a reflection of Josette. She hears a rustling, and asks who's in the room. She realizes that she's alone. She believes that Dave's ghost is present, and after calling to him, she hears Vicki call out. Julia calls her upstairs, and asks if there's any word from Burke. Vicki says no, but she's going to restore the West Wing of Collinwood. She says Barnabas offered to help, and she wants to take him up on his offer. She says Josette's room is the most beautiful she's seen. Julia angrily says Barnabas has more important things to do, and would prefer to be left alone.
Barnabas stops by the house to see Vicki. He asks if there's news, and she says she's sure there will be soon. She asks if he was busy, mentioning she had stopped by to see him. He asks what she came to see him about. She hesitates, and says when she came by to ask him help her restore the West Wing, Julia flew off the handle. She said it wasn't fair for everyone to take advantage of him. Barnabas says she has no right to say those things. He tells Vicki she is very dear to him, and he was not just being polite in offering to help. She says she wonders if Julia is working too hard. Julia walks in with flowers, and apologizes to Vicki for raising her voice earlier. Vicki takes them and leaves to get a vase. Barnabas grabs the flowers from Julia and says they have some talking to do.
He tells her he knows what she's doing and why. He tells her to remember that they are doctor and patient, regardless of any delusions she has. She says their relationship is more involved than that. He insists that she behave in a reasonable fashion with Vicki. Vicki gasps, and picks up the flowers Julia brought, which are now all dead.
Julia prepares a hypodermic needle to give Barnabas his treatment in her laboratory. She yells at Barnabas for making her nervous. He says he wants to expedite her treatments. She says she's running as efficiently as possible. Barnabas explains that Vicki is lonely and vulnerable, just like Josette was. And he will not make the same mistake twice. Julia goes to give him his shot, and he grabs her hand. He warns her not to let her jealousy to get in the way of his plans.
Our thoughts
John: Sure, Julia is treating a vampire, and his little sister is a ghost, but it's ridiculous to think Josette's ghost might be in the room with her?
Christine: It may have had more to do with not wanting to acknowledge the possible presence of her rival for Barnabas' affections. Incidentally, that is not Anthony George playing Burke's corpse in Vicki's dream, but none other than Peter Murphy, who last played Dr. Woodard's ghost in Episode 343.
John: Wow, Julia puts the full court press to keep Vicki away from Barnabas. Surely she knew that was bound to backfire.
Christine: What happened to her trusty hypno-medallion? It would have been far more effective.
John: So Barnabas' touch will kill fresh flowers? That's certainly a new and interesting development.
Christine: Apparently Barnabas sucks the life out of everything around him. I guess he won't be bringing Vicki any flowers when it comes time to woo her. Was Julia's lip quivering due to sadness, anger, or fear after Barnabas told her he did not forgive her? More evidence of Grayson Hall's impressive talent.

Seriously, you guys think Grayson Hall is that good? I never did (other than her portrayal of Magda, one of my favorite characters), especially when it came to showing emotion like fear, anger, sadness etc. Her crying is almost comical.
And yes, I know she won an award for Night of The Iguana. Perhaps if she did for Barnabas what I think she might have done to win that award (and to get tbe role), Barbabas would forget all about Vickie and Josette.
BTW, I interpreted the dead flowers as the result of Barnabas's overpowering anger at Julia.
