Carolyn tells Barnabas that Vicki is afraid of him. Carolyn thinks Julia has something to do with it. She tells him about the walk they took that Vicki doesn't remember. Barnabas tells Carolyn to watch Julia's every move. He says if Julia is impeding his relationship with Vicki, she has signed her death certificate.

Julia is in the drawing room when Carolyn enters. She asks Carolyn if it's necessary for her to follow her around. Carolyn denies it, but Julia lays out how she's followed her from room to room all day. Julia tells her she's going up to her room and leaves.

Roger and Liz walk in and tell Carolyn they're sending David to Boston for a while on holiday with Vicki. Carolyn asks how Vicki feels about leaving, and Liz explains that she's fine to go with David. Roger suggests that Carolyn should accompany Vicki and David to Boston. She says she doesn't want to go, and leaves to find Vicki. Roger points out that Carolyn has been acting strangely, which Liz acknowledges as well.

Julia finds Vicki preparing flowers, which she says are an apology for Barnabas. She explains how she recoiled when Barnabas had reached for her hand, and she has no idea why. Carolyn interrupts them, and asks Vicki to tell her mother that she has to go into town for a few hours. After she leaves, Julia closes the door to the drawing room. Carolyn sneaks back into the house and eavesdrops on Julia and Vicki. Julia pulls the crystals from the chandeliers out of her pockets and quickly uses it to hypnotize Vicki. Julia tells her that they're going on a journey, and Vicki won't remember being there, or what she shows her. Outside, Carolyn hides until Vicki and Julia leave, and then she follows them.

Julia leads Vicki into the basement of the old house. She takes her into a room with a coffin which she says is intended for her. Outside, Carolyn listens. Julia makes Vicki admit that Barnabas is dead, and that he wants Vicki to be his undead bride.

Vicki says no, and Julia says she must resist his will. She explains that she must be frightened in his presence, and recoil at his touch. As she leads her out, Caroline hides in the shadows.

Julia leads Vicki back into the drawing room of the main house, and brings her out of her trance. She asks Vicki when she plans to go to the old house. Vicki decides she's too busy, and asks Julia to take the flowers for her. Liz enters and tells Vicki that the plans for her trip with David are all arranged. Vicki tells her that she's glad to be going.

Carolyn tells Barnabas how Julia brought Vicki to the old house while she was hypnotized. He realizes Julia has turned against him. Carolyn says it's not the first time—Julia showed her Barnabas in his coffin previously. He says he must repair the damage Julia has done, and then she will be punished. Carolyn asks if he plans to kill her, and he says perhaps, or perhaps she'll meet a worse fate.

Our thoughts

John: Ouch! Roger didn't hesitate to tell Carolyn that she has no social life in Collinwood.

Christine: Dear, sweet Uncle Roger is telling it like it is.

John: Have they used the special effect with Julia's crystal before?

Christine: The effect was first seen in Episode 347 and again in Episode 352. You must have missed it when you averted your eyes to avoid being hypnotized by Julia. At what point is Vicki going to start to wonder why Julia keeps asking her to compare the chandelier crystals? It seems odd that Vicki would want to send Barnabas a bunch of flowers to apologize, though I would have liked to have seen her hand them to him and watch them wither away in his grasp as they did in Episode 346.

John: It looks like Julia has finally pushed her luck a little too far. Knowing that Carolyn has been monitoring her, you'd think she might have been a little more discreet with Vicki. One would think she'd have an extremely difficult time patching things up with Barnabas after this...

Christine: I love the way Carolyn smiled when she asked him if he'd kill Julia. Has she completely lost all sense of who she is? Even naughty Willie was against Barnabas hurting women. Shouldn't everyone be wondering by now when noted historian, Miss Hoffman, will be leaving Collinwood? I guess it won't be a surprise if she should suddenly disappear.

Carolyn is quite the conspicuous minion.

Don't forget, Willie Loomis had a drastic personality change once Barnabas got a hold of him. He went from a super cocky crook with no conscience, to a super meek manservant with a conscience. Also, Willie was bitten on the wrist, while Carolyn was bitten on the neck...perhaps that makes some sort of difference?!?

Finally, let me state for the record, that I believe KLS is a wonderful actress, but just a bit below NB in overall talent. They are both incredibly beautiful, but I put KLS just a bit above NB in that department. We now return to your regularly scheduled program. :)
