In Nicholas' house, Adam begins to behave as if he's being choked.
Back at the old house, Barnabas discusses what they should do, until he begins to choke, realizing that someone is trying to kill Adam.
Nicholas tells Adam it will be over in a moment, as he commands the spirit to leave. He assures the spirit it will know no peace. Adam is again able to breathe.
Barnabas tells Julia that it has stopped.
Blair asks if Adam if he is alright, and he says he is. He assures Adam it will never happen again.
Julia tells Barnabas that she knows what happened. She says Nicholas must have been with Adam and stopped it. Barnabas says that with Blair in control of Adam and his mate, they must put a stop to him, permanently. He doesn't know how, but he says it must be done.
Carolyn calls Harry into the conference room. She tells him to sit down and listen, and he does. She tells him to go to the old house to see if Adam is there. She refuses to believe that Adam would leave without saying goodbye, and she thinks Barnabas may be responsible for his disappearance. Harry says that he might get into trouble, and Carolyn assures him that she'll pay him.
Barnabas suggests that Eve must be vital to Blair's plans, and so they must destroy her, making it look like natural causes.
They don't notice that Harry is standing right outside the window, in plain view, listening to them.
Harry visits Blair, offering him information. Blair says he assumes Harry wants payment, and asks what he has, and how much he wants. Harry tells him he wants $5000. Blair asks for the information, and Harry mentions Eve. He says that some people are planning to kill her. Blair tells him that he believes him, and asks who is planning to kill her. Harry brings up the money, and Blair opens his wallet, offering $100 down payment. He says knowing who is worth more.
Harry tells him it's Barnabas and Julia. Blair asks when they're planning to do it, and he says very shortly, but he doesn't know the specific time. Harry asks for the rest of his money, and Blair says he'll never see it. Harry says he has an ace in the hole. He tells Blair that he knows he is hiding Adam in his house, and he could tell Carolyn, and she'll pay him. Blair bids him goodnight without paying him.
Harry is unable to open the front door, and can't get out. He looks for Nicholas, but he's gone. Doors slam shut behind him, and he clearly is scared. He tries other ways out, but appears to be trapped. A floating hand appears in the room with Harry.
He screams, and Blair asks if he's comfortable. Harry tells Blair he'll go back to Collinwood and mind his own business. Blair says he can't do that, and tells Harry to look into his eyes. Blair tells Harry that he will work for him now.
Harry returns to Collinwood, where Carolyn pounces on him for information. He tells her Adam isn't with Barnabas. She grabs her coat and says that Adam might be at Nicholas Blair's house.
Adam tells Blair he wants to talk to him. He says nothing is going well after the experiment. He reminds Blair they were all going to leave together. Blair says they have to take care of things first, such as Adam's scars, which a doctor will remove.
There's a knock at the door and Blair tells Adam to go into another room. Blair is happy to see Carolyn, and she asks if he has seen Adam. She explains he left without saying goodbye, and she's worried about him.
Adam listens in on their conversation from the other room.
Blair assures Carolyn that Adam will surely be fine. She asks him to get in touch if he sees or hears from Adam. She says he doesn't have to come back, she just wants to be sure he's happy. She leaves, and Adam says he has to go see Carolyn to tell her he's all right. Blair says they have more serious things to deal with—Barnabas is planning to kill Eve. Adam begins to rush out, but Blair stops him. He says he has a plan, and sends Adam upstairs to get Angelique.
Our thoughts
John: Someone needs to teach Harry Johnson better negotiation techniques. Never give up all your info until you've gotten all the money, Harry!
Christine: He seemed to have trouble getting payment in his past life as Noah Gifford, too.
John: Was anyone else surprised that Blair didn't call in Angelique to take care of Harry Johnson? He seemed like perfect vampire-fodder.
Christine: I agree. I was expecting her to add another dude to her diet. I was surprised he told Adam to go upstairs to get her. Is she hanging out and fondling Joe's neck in a room upstairs when she's not resting in her coffin below? Or is Peter Bradford the man of the hour? Maybe she's entertaining both. Is Nicholas finally going to allow that gluttonous vamp to make Barnabas her number three?
John: I couldn't believe that Adam didn't burst into the foyer once he heard that Carolyn was concerned about him. Doesn't Blair realize that Carolyn means more to Adam than Eve does?
Christine: He may realize it, but he's trained everyone around him to obey him or face his wrath. I thought it was interesting that Blair knows the same floating hand trick that Barnabas has used in the past. I'd love to see them go mano a mano with their floating hands.
