Ben stands outside the crypt waiting for Barnabas and Josette. When Barnabas appears, Ben asks him what's wrong, but Barnabas steps by him and enters the crypt. Ben asks if he killed Josette, and Barnabas explains that she jumped off the cliff at Widow's Hill. Ben says it's the curse. Barnabas explains that she's lost to him for eternity.
He says Angelique made Josette hate him, and swears he will find a way to end her curse. He says he will go to his father and let him do to him what he must. As he goes to leave the door shuts in front of him. They hear Angelique's laughter all around them. He says he will never love another, so that her curse is effectively over. With that, the door to the crypt swings open and Barnabas leaves.
Naomi comes downstairs from comforting the Countess. Joshua brings up the power of darkness, and Naomi tells him that the power of witchcraft is not responsible for their troubles. Millicent enters, and Joshua tells her Josette is dead. She doesn't seem too distressed. Naomi asks about Nathan, and Millicent says he's not coming. Joshua suggests he's probably still in mourning. Millicent agrees he was quite fond of Suki.
Barnabas kneels at Jeremiah's grave, and says that he and Josette will be together. He's surprised when Millicent appears, saying that he's back. She says she needs to ask him a favor, and then she hears Ben calling. When she turns back, Barnabas is gone. Ben appears and she says she saw Barnabas, but he ran away from her. Ben says she didn't see Barnabas, and she explains that he's back, and perhaps no one told her about it. She says that she came to choose her final resting place, and asks him to show her the mausoleum.
She tells Ben she wants to be beside Sarah. She tells him that no matter how long she lives, today is the day she died, and she wants Nathan Forbes to know. Ben doesn't understand her, but she says Barnabas will. Ben reiterates that Barnabas is in England, and Millicent says that Barnabas came back because of Josette's death. Ben says Josette has only been dead a few hours. Millicent says she'll tell her cousin Joshua, and Ben says she doesn't want to give anyone grief. She asks Ben why he doesn't want her to know that Barnabas is back. He says he'll take her back to the house, and let her know tomorrow if he's back or not. He tells her that if she saw Barnabas, he wouldn't run away from her. She thanks Ben for showing her the mausoleum, and suggests he follow her home, albeit at a reasonable distance.
Joshua is working at his desk when Naomi comes in. He says he has a deposition for Vicki's trial. He says Abigail will represent the family, and Naomi tells him she plans to be there, too. Joshua insists that Abigail will be the only family member at the trial. She tells him she will testify, and he says she will obey him. Millicent bursts in and asks them where he is. She says she saw Barnabas and wants to know where he is. Joshua says that Barnabas is in England. Millicent says she saw him at Jeremiah's grave. Joshua insists that she is ill, with an active imagination. She says Barnabas is the only one who can defend her honor, and they're keeping him from her. She says she needs Barnabas to kill Nathan. She explains that Nathan was married to Suki. She tells Joshua than Ben should be punished for lying to her. Joshua asks where she saw him, and she mentions seeing him at the mausoleum. She says if she's seen Barnabas and Joshua hasn't, he must find out why. He agrees with her.
Our thoughts
John: How come we didn't get to see Josette's body on the rocks, Bill Malloy-style?
Christine: It would have been so wonderfully gruesome had we seen her broken corpse strewn across the rocks. It also would have given viewers a chance to fondly recall Dark Shadows' first real horror in Episode 50. Good times!
John: Damn, Millicent! Pretty harsh words about Josette. Such a selfish girl. Just like Carolyn!
Christine: Millicent was very Carolyn-esque with the crazy eyes and lovelorn demeanor. Favorite dialogue of the day:
Joshua: My cousin, you have a very vivid imagination.John: Nice to see Naomi standing up to Joshua again. Good thing, because poor Vicki is going to need all the help she can get!
Millicent: Sir! I have none!
Christine: Naomi must be all out of sherry. Millicent mentioned her brother is too young to defend her honor. I wonder if we'll ever get to meet little Daniel.

Hi Peter and John,
I hope you don’t mind my leaving this comment here, but it seemed like the quickest way to get in touch! I’m currently writing an article on Kolchak for the UK magazine, SciFiNow, and would really like to talk to you both about the TV movies and the show, having thoroughly enjoyed reading your fascinating blog on the subject a few years ago. Your insight and knowledge of Kolchak history would be very much appreciated (and fully credited, of course). I’m a writer and academic as well as a huge horror/sci-fi fan, and am keen to make the piece as thorough and detailed as I can, so am looking to interview fellow researchers on the subject. Here’s a piece I wrote on Kolchak a few years ago: http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/kolchak-the-night-stalker/32125/revisiting-kolchak-the-night-stalker
If this sounds like it might be of interest and you have the time, do let me know - my e-mail address is my name (no capital letters) at gmail.com. I’m available by e-mail or Skype, and work freelance so can arrange a time to suit you. Thanks!
All the best,
Gem Wheeler
