Willie is cleaning the chandelier when he sees someone through the front window. He shouts and runs outside. Barnabas comes out and asks what Willie is screaming about. He says he saw Sarah outside, but when he got there she had disappeared. Barnabas accuses Willie of conspiring with Julia against him. Willie asks him why everyone, including Vicki, would lie about Sarah. Barnabas is once again confused by Sarah's refusing to appear before him.
David stares into his crystal ball when Carolyn tells him it's time for dinner. He tells her he's trying to find out where Sarah is. She tells him his father is going to take the crystal ball away if he doesn't come down to dinner, and David announces he can see where he can find Sarah. There's a knock at the door, and Carolyn goes to answer it.
Carolyn is surprised to see Joe, who's there to ask David a question. He says they couldn't find Sarah anywhere he told them to look for her. Joe asks David about the secret place he mentioned. David says he can't, because it's a secret. Joe tells him they're trying to find who abducted Maggie. David says Sarah is in the secret place, and he can go get her and bring her back. Joe asks him if he will and he agrees. Carolyn stops him, and explains to Joe that they can't send David out alone in the night. Carolyn sends David to eat his dinner. While Joe and Carolyn continue talking, David sneaks out of the house.
Sarah sits on the steps of the Collins family crypt, cradling her doll.
Barnabas tells Willie that Sarah wouldn't betray him. He says they must search for her. Willie asks if he knows where she is, and Barnabas says her final resting place.
David calls for Sarah at Eagle Hill cemetery, and she comes to him. He tells her they have to go to his house. Someone wants to talk with her about Maggie Evans. She says she'll go away if he doesn't play with her. He agrees, but when he goes to retrieve the ball she threw past him, she disappears.
Carolyn comes downstairs and tells Joe that David didn't eat his dinner and he isn't upstairs. She says she thinks David snuck out looking for Sarah.
David calls for Sarah, and goes into the family crypt. He says he knows where she's hiding, and pulls the lever opening the secret door. He enters the secret room with the coffin, but doesn't see her. He starts to leave when he hears voices outside. He tries to close the secret door, but cannot.
Willie and Barnabas approach the crypt and enter. There's no one inside, and the secret door is closed.
David hides behind the secret door, and hears Willie and Barnabas talking about someone who isn't there.
Barnabas asks Willie to open the panel.
David opens the coffin and prepares to get inside.
Willie pulls the lever and the secret door opens. Barnabas enters and walks into the room with the coffin.
Our thoughts
John: Why didn't David go right to the crypt he 'knew' she would be at? After making such a big deal out of it, it seems silly for him to stop short of going into the crypt.
Christine: For those who skipped the beginning episodes, David's handy crystal ball was a gift from Burke Devlin in Episode 48, and has not been an entirely reliable source of information. I'm not sure David really needed it to know she'd be hanging out at Eagle Hill.
John: Why would Carolyn or Joe have any doubt that David snuck out of the house, based on his history?
Christine: Carolyn did acknowledge that it would be just like him to sneak out, but Joe insisted he must be there somewhere, which would also be like David to hide out.
John: What a great way to close out the week! Barnabas in the family crypt with David hiding in the coffin!
Christine: Will Sarah intervene if Barnabas finds David there? I guess we'll find out next week!
I've been watching this string of episodes thanks to the cable network DECADES who've been running a weekend long binge (10/28 & 10/29)
