Then & Now
John: Since Maggie has the day off, mute Susie is once again working at the diner.
Shouldn't Burke put Mrs. Johnson on retainer if he's going to continually direct her activities?
Mrs. Johnson tells Liz, "I'm not a gossip and I respect other people's privacy," which seems at odds with the task she's been given. I can't remember whether she claims not to be a gossip more often than she proves herself to be one, but there's some tracking potential there.
Shadows on the Wall
John: Is it just me, or does Matthew look out of place walking the streets of Collinsport? He doesn't exactly make for a good representative of Collinwood... instead coming across like a charity case.
Christine: Well, if he ran a brush through his hair or washed off the 5 o'clock shadow, we might confuse him for Professor Stokes when that learned man finally appears on scene. He looks right at home as he trims the hedges, and one could also imagine him lopping heads off with those shears when nobody is looking.

I wonder if Mrs. Johnson gave the taxi driver a ten-cent tip,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds about right. Though probably no tip if the driver didn't handle the curves up to Collinwood well.
